Generation 4 Goals Marital Status: Couple with 'Help' This roll is a combination of the Couple roll and the Single Parent with 'Help' roll. Your sim must obtain a spouse or partner to live with them in the household. They must also move in a non-romantic sim to help raise the children. The 'helper' may have children of their own, but is not allowed to move in a partner. This sim's children count towards the total rolled. All children in the house must live by that generation's rules. The helper may move out when the heir comes of age, just like the previous heir, but that is not required. Number of Children: 4 Children Your generation is only allowed to have 4 children. Note that exceeding this number by having accidental twins or triplets is fine, but you must not have any more children after that. Primary Career: Military Secondary Career: Law Enforcement (Super Spy) Primary Career: Artist Paint or sculpt (or both!) and sell the finished products. Generational Goal: Change of Scenery Your Sim is fed up of the same 4 walls and wants to move. Re-roll if generation 1. Either: 1. Delete everything in your house which isn't Sim made (paintings, etc.), a career trophy, or from a vacation world. Then demolish your house, and build a new one from scratch. 2. Place a pre-built house somewhere in your town and move into it. 3. Move into another existing house in your town. 4. Move your Sims to a new town. If you choose this option, then for neighborhood continuity reasons your Sims may NOT move into a town your legacy has already lived in. Also if choosing this option, you may choose to keep your old house, but plop it down somewhere in the new town. Miscellaneous Fun: Hands Off You may not use the robotic hand of god function in awesomemod, or otherwise use your mouse to move things from one inventory to another, clean up laundry, dirty plates, etc. Let those sims clean up after themselves for a while. All items for careers must be sold in the Consignment Store (Ambitions), or to rabbitholes that will buy them (i.e. a gardener career Sim may sell produce to the grocery store). Primary Lots to add: Military Base - Maxed Handiness and Athletics (no money requirement). Gym - Maxed Athletics, and must purchase the lot. $71,200 Might try to add the police department lot for the spouses career since it doesn't take money just maxing skills. Notes: After Midori moved into her new home with Zach I discovered a flaw, or hiccup if you will, to the game. To which I'm putting the storied spin of "I'm not dead yet and you have to share with your twin." The ownership of the 4 community lots didn't travel with Midori when she moved to the new lot, even though she retained the family funds. An additional hiccup is the food from the fridge didn't travel with her either, so she's going to have to make a trip home to raid the family garden. So in addition to working on her skills for her career, she will be gardening a fair bit as will Zach. Funding goals, in addition to the money needed to build a gym, she is going to also need to raise funds to become partners in each of the 4 lots owned by her dad, and with luck eventually buy out her twins shares. I'm not sure if that could have been avoided, had I/she waited until after Donte and Lea had passed on of old age or if the ownership would have stayed tied to the old lot and her twin. I was in to much of a hurry to move on to a new lot to find out. To me it made sense for the spouse to be an athletic individual, and I still don't know who her spouse will be as she has many choices. Since their are to be 4 children, Zach will be staying single - his traits just aren't conducive to pairing off easily, I don't know which of the 4 will be heir especially as they're not even in existences yet. :) Even though I've called the change of scenery goal completed all ready there is still a chance that Midori might move yet again, or raze the existing house and rebuild from scratch at a later date since her new home was thrown together quickly without much thought for a large family.

For most of this time we have sims working hard. Donte finally understanding that the garden was a source of income as well as food, and that had he and Lea been gardening all along then maybe there would have been more money for investing and they wouldn't have lost the science center, not would he have had to choose between a proper cemetery and the library that he and his father had dreamed of. With the extra money from their stashed fish and produce it was easy to get the extra money needed to bring a business building in to town. It was big enough to house several other corporation offices besides the offices needed for the newspaper. Which helped balance the loss of jobs from the loss of the science center. Lea and Donte both transitioned to elder within a few days of each other. Donte made it clear that he still had the stamina to physically express just how much he loved his wife. City council had an open hearing to discuss the fate of the fishing hole. After listening to everyone it was decided that a second space was needed as a park so that folks who liked to fish could once again do so in peace. As the twins birthday loomed closer Lea learned that Diedra was concerned for her eldest son. He was insane and kept getting in trouble for taking the neighbors lawn decor, yet he had the gentle soul of an artist and loved nothing more than spending his days painting or playing the guitar. So one day after one of Donte's fundraisers on what could eventually be the town's park, Lea pulled her nephew Zachariah Verde (Zach from here out) aside and had a long talk with him. At the end of the talk they came to an understanding in trade for being live in help for his cousins Lea would tutor him in guitar basics. Which was something he wanted to learn. Donte had acquired the land where the family remains had already been interred and got a proper mausoleum built on to it. An attempt to plant grass was made but the seed didn't take to the soil well and it grew with a yellow tinge and dried out quickly. The cherry tree planted in the corner reserved for the family bloomed nicely but didn't fruit. At one point Donte was asked why the cemetery instead of the library, he pointed to the population boom that had happened in his lifetime, and that like himself everyone was growing older. The town needed a proper cemetery, simple as that. Eventually Donte decided that he'd done enough and retired from his spot on the city council. Before they knew it it was time for the twins next transition. Donte ordered a couple of cakes and invited over all of the teens and a few young adults that the girls knew. He insisted it be a formal occasion. Donte had known that Midori planned on moving away from the family property in time he just hadn't realized that she planned to do it right after her transition. Generation 3 Wrap Up
I might have been overly ambitious with the build up goals for generation 3. Every goal but adding a library was completed. Library will just have to wait a few more generations to happen. Midori has moved on to a new home lot in the midtown area, leaving Duri the family property should she choose to remain on it. At the end of Generation 3 the family owned the grocery store, bookstore, business building, and graveyard. Here ends generation 3. The Verde's have been busy. As previously mentioned with the twins now in school both Donte and Lea renewed their focus on their careers with a vigor and spent almost all of their waking hours building up their skill base. Donte also focused on his painting as he felt this was a better revenue stream for him than trying to write on the computer which he really wanted to sabotage. If it wasn't for his wife and daughters he would have sold off both the tv and computer by now, as a technophobe he just didn't see the point of technology. Lea spent a fair bit of her time playing for tips in the park. She really liked the extra money, but wished she had a more steady income stream. One day while playing in the park Lea overheard of a sale going on at the bookstore. Being the frugal sim that she is she took advantage of the sale and picked up a few skill books for her husband, she really wanted key lime pie and he was taking to long to improve his cooking skill and wouldn't watch the cooking network with her, so a cookbook was the next best thing in her book. She also picked him up a book on speech while she was there so he'd have a way improve his speaking technique besides standing in front of mirrors all day. When she mentioned to Donte that she was going to the bookstore he asked her to also pick up an advanced gardening book for him. He wanted to be able to plant some of the fruits and vegetables his grandmother had grown so easily, but didn't know how to properly plant them. Donte took it as a good sign when a rainbow appeared over the island the day he maxed his charisma skill. Worried about generating enough income to bring in an office building, let alone any other developed lots, Donte dusted off the map his grandma had made and started collecting gems, rocks, and minerals on top of renewed dumpster diving. The money was good but not steady enough, so he took up a job at city hall as a clerk confident that with his narration skill plus heritage of founding family member that he would be able to advance quickly. His second day on the job Donte discovered two horrific pieces of information. First being their was an unpaid bill for $140,000 for the land where the science center had been built and that if it wasn't paid soon Sprockets R Us would have no choice but to move their science facility someplace else. Secondly, there had been to much development on the land where the fishing hole was and the city was trying to decide whether they should rezone the land or demolish it. The council was split 50-50 as both decisions cost the same amount of money, and despite the influx of new residents the island just didn't have enough revenue coming in, yet. One day while out collecting Donte discovered he had two ways to reach the uninhabited smaller island off to the west. He could swim to it, which was a little nerve wracking the first time he swam it, what with sharks in the water and the distance seemed much larger than it actually was; or the taxi's had a mysterious ability to drive on the water and straight up the cliff face. (Had I known the taxis would drive on the water and up the cliff face I would have left the 3 lots on the small island. Despite the weird appearance of a car driving on the water. lol) Now despite being very focused on their skills Donte and Lea also made sure that they didn't neglect their daughters, and spent a fair amount of time with them as a family. Including throwing them a big family & friends party when they transitioned from children to teen. With the transition to teen the twins personalities became even more noticeable. Midori liked to start her mornings with a workout, and was very handy with a wrench. Duri had a natural affinity for computers, and was entertaining the idea of maybe becoming an artist like her dad, but she wasn't committed one way or the other yet. Both girls preferred jogging to and from school to riding the school bus. Midori hinted to her sister that an artist would be the perfect live in help for a couple raising a bunch of kids, but not so many kids that they'd be surrounded by family. She also stated that she wanted her future mate to be athletic, smart, and interested in keeping both the streets and world safe from dangerous criminals. She was less subtle with her grumbles about the decades old home they lived in and swore that when she was an adult she was going to live someplace completely new. Brief summary
Both Donte and Lea have completed all of their skill requirements for their careers. Now it's a matter of raising the money needed for the lot's I want to add for the generation and maybe save the science center. So far family funds are getting close to what's needed for the office building. I goofed the science building add, thinking it was skill only not skill plus money. If gen 4 stays on the island the science building goes goodbye. Gen 4 plus future gens will most likely stay on the island as I don't want to deal with rounding up grave markers and cousins to in an attempt to keep family connections that would get lost with a bin move to a new world map. Also for those intimate with the Nothing is Free challenge, yes I am going against the rules with adding more than one building/lot per sim, but hey I did state in the setup post that I was pulling inspiration not hard fast rules from the challenge. ;) Wait did I just see hints for gen 4 goals? Yes, yes indeed there are hints to the gen 4 goals in this post; marital status, family size, and careers are all hinted at to the discerning reader. The only thing not hinted is who will become Midori's life partner since that is still a big unknown. :) The toddler stage went by swiftly and both parents were happy when the girls headed off to school. True Donte and Lea had been able to work on their skills once they had trained the girls in the basic toddler skills, but now with the girls at school they didn't have to stop mid brush stroke or chess move to change a diaper. Donte was thrilled when he achieved his life time wish. Now he has to buckle down and finish his career goals, of which he needs to perfect his charisma skill. Midori was thrilled to learn that Donte had made fruit parfait. Duri hopes he'll make her favorite cookies, and Lea is being patient while he gains the skill needed for Key Lime pie. Summary
Donte Skills: Athletic 1, Charisma 7, Cooking 5, Fishing 6, Gardening 6, Handiness 3, Logic 5, Writing 10, Painting 10 Lea Skills: Guitar 7, Cooking 4, Logic 8, Handiness 4 Twins by birth order. New heading for this generation, it reflects that if one of the weeks is mostly boring or only has one event like a birthday then I might not encompass an entire week in the update, or I might wait and stuff two or more weeks into an update. To refresh I left off about a week ago right after Donte had held a memorial for Kyle Jr. Donte spent much of the first few days after his dad faded working on both his painting and charisma skills. His wife Lea, who is expecting their child, spent much of her time at the park playing for tips. She loves the clink clink sound of money falling into her case so much that she's changed her life time want from being surrounded by family to swimming in cash. They were nicely into their time as a young couple when Lea's water broke in the middle of the night. Both young adults lamented about how much Kyle Jr would have wanted to be there for the baby's birth. Lea being the tidy person she is had to stop and make the bed despite the labor contractions. She also decided it might be better if she delivered her baby in the nursery downstairs. Wait! What! Lea "How the blazes!" Donte "I did mention I was a twin didn't I." Lea glares daggers I know for fact that there was no children's music or tv during the pregnancy, and neither parent has the fertility reward. Welcome Miduri and Duri, did you know your parents were only supposed to have one child. The rest of the week flew by in a sleep deprived haze for Donte & Lea. Yet somehow despite their exhaustion they managed to host a few parties, and both young adults transitioned to adult. When the girls became toddlers, Donte indicated that it was very obvious who his heir would be. Lea fussed a bit about giving the girls a chance to grow more but Donte pointed to the red fuzz covering his head "My great grandparents, grandma, and dad all had red hair, the property deed even specifies red hair required, lavender eyes optional." When Lea asked what happens when there are no redheads born, Donte shrugged and said that bridge would be crossed when it arrived. Once the twins were sleeping through the night and thereby letting their parents sleep through the night. Donte and Lea agreed that focusing on their toddler training right away would be a good idea. Summary Family Funds: $14,310 Lot Value: Furnished $51,231; Unfurnished $18,387 Donte Skills: Athletic 1, Charisma 7, Cooking 5, Fishing 6, Gardening 6, Handiness 3, Logic 5, Writing 10, Painting 8 Lea New LTW: Swimming in Cash ($50,000) Skills: Guitar 7, Cooking 4, Logic 6, Handiness 2 Twins by birth order. Traits were rolled, then one was dropped to add Loves The Outdoors as the carry forward trait. Midori (heir) Traits: Loves the outdoors, friendly Toddler Skills: Potty trained, Talk, Walk Tot Books Read: Fingerpainting 101 Duri Traits: Athletic, Loves the Outdoors Toddler Skills: Potty trained, Talk, Walk Tot Books Read: Fingerpainting 101 Other Events: Twin girls, how the heck did that happen? No kids music or tv was permitted during the pregnancy! My theory is either because Donte is a twin or because Lea has the family orientated trait. Or maybe because there are/were two cribs on the lot. Diedra now has three sons ranging from infant to school age. City Hall announced that all 10 of the pre-built houses are now occupied and they've had success hiring interns to file paperwork.
Generation 3 Goals
Marital Status: Couple (Yay, I did a happy chair dance.) Your sim must obtain a spouse or partner to live with them in the household. The spouse or partner does not technically have to be the father/mother of the children, but they must be present in the household. Number of Children: 1 Child (Nutters!!) Your generation is only allowed to have 1 child. Note that exceeding this number by having accidental twins or triplets is fine, but you must not have any more children after that. Primary Career: Donte's - Journalism Skill Based: Writing 10/10 Charisma 6/10 Secondary(Spouse) Career: Music (Classical) Skill Based: Guitar 6/10 Logic 5/10 Generational Goal: Expansionist (Completed - Elder suite for Kyle Jr on the 1st floor) Put at least one major expansion onto your house during this generation. Examples of expansions a new nursery with space for all the toddler toys and an attached outdoor playground, a guest apartment for the previous generation elders to live in, or an artist's retreat with room for painters, sculptors and drafters to practice their art. Miscellaneous Fun: Gourmet Your sims must cook their favorite meal at least once, as well as the favorite meals of every active member of the household. If you have this goal, you're not allowed to change your sim's favorite meals (by using the reward for instance). The only exception is for players that have WA and don't want to travel. These ones are allowed to reroll until they obtain a meal they can cook in their neighborhood. If you have this goal in generation 1, use the random button to select your sim's favorite meal, color and music. If you have pets, every pet meal must be cooked. All meals must be of normal quality or higher. LTW: Donte - Illustrated Author Lea - Surrounded by Family (she needs about 5,000 more ltr points before she can get a new LTW since this one is incompatible with the generational goals.) Lots to Add: Career: Office Building - Maxed Charisma and Writing $58,000 LTW/Skill Add: Library Writing + $36,200 ?? Misc: Graveyard How many lot's get added will depend on how well Donte and Lea earn income. The family is earning $4,000 a week from the two stores. Family Funds: $752 (after addition of suite for Kyle Jr on the 1st floor) Lot Value: Furnished $47,825, Unfurnished $18,491 Store Orders: Easel, guitar, furnishings for Kyle Jr's elder suite, new bed for Donte & Lea At this point any and all dumpster diving will be to increase family funds. Kyle Jr Skills: Gardening 8, Fishing 10, Handiness 7, Athletic 2, Logic 10, Cooking 5, Charisma 8, Writing 10 Books Published: 14 Royalties Per Week: $4,209 Donte (heir) Traits: Loves the Outdoors, Brave, Technophobe, Friendly, Heavy Sleeper Skills: Athletic 1, Charisma 5, Cooking 4, Fishing 6, Gardening 3, Handiness 3, Logic 5, Writing 8, Painting 3 Lea (2 days older than Donte) Was an NPC social worker, from the main land*. Traits: Neat, Family Orientated, Frugal, Hot Headed, Natural Cook LTW: Surrounded by Family (will be getting changed) Skills: None Other Events: Diedra is dating Jed Bellamy. Alesha has 2 boys and 1 daughter, still only dating their dad, keeps getting into fights with Adrian Quinn. At the start of the week Kyle Jr hosted a young folks mixer, and invited over everyone not an adult or elder, a few elders came anyway. Donte chatted up the mailperson a day later, then invited her and a bunch of her mainland* friends over for a singles mixer. During the mixer he met 3 young women who found him attractive, 1 of them even snuck him a kiss. Once he learned that she wasn't into kids he asked her to just be friends, she didn't like that. Kyle Jr completed the skill professor part of his goals and is just a few points from clearing charisma. (Fingers are crossed for him to clear, he is at 86 days.) After getting together one - on - one with the women from the party Donte selected (rolled a wish to kiss) his future partner and invited her over. After a whirlwind romance they got married and Kyle Jr threw a party inviting all of the extended family over. * Since Industrial Island is an island I have decided that all NPC's live on a mainland and are ferried over each day for their jobs. :) Another busy week for the Verde's. Happily towards the end of the week Kyle Jr and his son Donte figured out how to kill two birds with one stone, especially since Donte is a technophobe. I am worried whether or not Kyle Jr will be able to max his charisma before he has to meet grim. If he does I might also add city hall since it's not a money tied lot, just skill based, and there are now 6 additional residential lots (but only 4 occupied) on the island. Family Funds: $1,267 (after $27,000 for the Bookstore) Lot Value: Furnished $26,359, Unfurnished $15,197 Store Orders: Easel At this point any and all dumpster diving will be to increase family funds. I was thinking of keeping the lot close to starter level cost, however the roll for gen 3 has pointed me on a new path. Other Events: Kyle Jr transitioned to elder. The twins became young adults, Diedra, who's final trait is Party Animal, got a job at the science center and moved out(kicked out) to an empty 2 bedroom house. Alesha is continuing to pop out simlets, and now has 2 children with a 3rd one on the way. Kyle Jr Skills: Gardening 8, Fishing 10, Handiness 7, Athletic 2, Logic 10, Cooking 5, Charisma 7, Writing 10 Books Published: 13 Royalties Per Week: $3,213 Donte (heir) Traits: Loves the Outdoors, Brave, Technophobe, Friendly, Heavy Sleeper LTW: Illustrated Author Skills: Athletic 1, Charisma 2, Cooking 4, Fishing 6, Gardening 3, Handiness 3, Logic 5, Writing 5, Painting 2 Family Funds: $15,642 Lot Value: Furnished $25,795, Unfurnished $15,197 Other Events: Alesha & Heath became adults. Alesha is still in a rocky relationship with Adrian Quinn and has a son, Efren McGrath, by him. Rufus Jr & Valarie both became elders. The twins are dumpster diving & collecting rocks to help boost the family funds. I had to tag a lot as library in edit town mode to find out how much money would be needed. What was funny was popping by the lot to check the value and seeing a bunch of sims standing around reading on an empty lot. Charisma seems to be a challenging skill for Kyle Jr, whereas he's on the cusp of finishing the writing skill. I can't tell if he's gaining any charisma points as he tutors other sims. Family Funds: $9,104 Lot Value: Furnished $29,943, Unfurnished $15,197 Store Orders: New Stove Other Events: The twins transitioned to teens. Tce family funds to 0, shipwrecked = another broke start after camp set up. ;) Lastly tce add to family, while game was paused to add three households in addition to the Verde's to the island. Goofs!
