This is the last post for gen 6, by the end of the post we say goodbye to Thomas, his insanity, his refusal to make commitments, and his not nice attitudes. Reminder Thomas is an asshole by design in accordance with his traits. There is also a gen 7 overlap as set-up for gen 7 choices. Julia quickly settled into the new routines. With their dad, Thomas, almost never home; and her sister always off working the house was always empty and to quite so she would got to the library and stay until curfew. Thomas chaffed at staying in the same job. The only reason he hadn't quit already was because it gave him a place to go daily, and more importantly every week it was a different heist with a different crew. So in a small way it was like working at a new job every week. He knew he didn't have to work, but the idea of staying home and tending the garden was far less appealing than a job he marginally tolerated. His daughters also chaffed at the home situation, but for different reasons. Even though she wasn't flirty by nature, Isabella was finding the attention from boys at school a nice alternative to loneliness. Julia tried to get her sister to see the boys were only using her but Isabella wouldn't hear it. Instead Isabella pointed out that Julia didn't have to be unhappy and stuck at the school where her natural cooking talent was ignored. - But dad said no - He won't care, let alone notice if you switch schools - Yes he would - No he wouldn't, all he cares is not being bothered when he's sleeping and that there's food to eat - That's not true ... - Then put it to the test! Isabella flounced off to fix her makeup. A few days later Thomas graced the breakfast table, when he complimented Julia on her cooking she decided to ask again about culinary school. His emphatic no followed by a tirade on how he'd already told her no and that if she asked again he'd hit her harder than the slap she'd just gotten, left Julia in tears. After calming down, and cleaning her face she got Isabella's help on her homework. Seeing the red mark on Julia's face Isabella shook her head. - Do you get it know, he fathered us but any interest he may have had when we were little, novel, and new has waned. We are on our own. Julia didn't say anything, just closed her finished work and pulled a cooking book from the bookcase. Hearing Thomas's raised voice as he argued with himself drift down the stairs Isabella shook her head and mouthed 'later' and vanished. A few days later faking a bravado she wasn't feeling Julia decided to test the boundaries by staying out past curfew. Being taken home by cops didn't feel good, but the lack of consequence at home, other than her own guilt showed her just how on their own she and Isabella really were for all they lived with their dad. The next day Julia went to the diner and asked to speak to her Grandma Stevie. After a talk behind closed doors, Stevie had a private chat with the person who had been hired as school director. The director handed Julia a list of basics that all students were supposed to know, and told her she'd have to keep her grades up and prove herself to keep her spot at the school. Despite the workload in her backpack Julia left feeling overjoyed, she would make her grandma proud. Thomas never noticed, as Julia was able to get the mail before him. The only thing he noticed was when a new petty thief was trying to make a name for themselves and tried to break into their home. Julia and Isabella made the most of their days and spent the bulk of their time away from the house. If Thomas noticed or cared he never said a word. Thomas's phone rang and he smirked, texted he was on his way. Upon arriving at the arranged meeting spot he greeted a very nervous woman, she was married, he didn't care. Eventually they parted ways after doing nothing more than talking, but he knew she'd message again soon. He was right. They met again at a different spot, when he suggestively invited her over she timidly replied yes. Thomas smiled, he'd had fun, maybe not as much as he wanted this time but next time she wouldn't be as hesitant. Plus he'd already received additional hook-up requests. His phone chimed again, he scowled, it wasn't what he wanted to see but he knew his duty. This time Thomas didn't send out invites to all of the family. He invited Aisha because he had to and hoped she wouldn't show. Staring at the invite list he hoped this would work and that it would lead to Isabella moving out. Isabella took note of all the young men at her transition party. Did her dad want her to sleep with them? Was he selling her? On one hand she felt confused, but on the other she loved all of the compliments she was getting, as well as numbers. Julia said nothing, beyond congratulating her sister, she had a feeling her upcoming transition day would be the same. In the days that followed Isabella's transition Julia kept her head down and focused on her cooking, she wanted to master all known recipes before she graduated. Thomas continued to date married women. As far as he was concerned it was a win-win situation. He got all the sex he wanted with none of the responsibility. He was aware of his bad reputation and didn't care, especially as all the gossip didn't hurt him. If anything he got more date requests because of it. Isabella dipped her toe into the dating scene. She didn't think it odd that the guy she was seeing never invited her to his house. Nor did it strike her as odd that when they got kicked out of city hall for making out in a closet he suggested going to her place. Thomas on the other hand blew a gasket when he realized a married man was using his daughter as a side piece. He wasn't sure why he cared, because as he shoved the tingle of guilt down, it was no different from how he treated women. When Isabella learned she was expecting she weighed her options. She had a good job in business which she didn't plan on leaving. She knew Thomas wouldn't kick her out or lecture her. She also knew that Julia wouldn't care if she stayed on. She also knew that the father of her child had no plans on leaving his wife. He had made that painfully clear by his reaction to her news. Finally late one day she made a hard choice, if she wanted the respect of her coworkers and a chance to fix her reputation she couldn't stay. Julia's transition day went much the same as Isabella's with a few exceptions. Julia called Isabella and invited her, letting her now that their dad was insisting on formal wear for Julia's transition. Julia almost got into a fight with one guest who was hitting on her, when she learned he was married. - Just because Thomas is my father doesn't mean I'll just jump into bed with whomever! Unlike my father I have standards & morals. Now get the fuck out of My home! Julia was glad Thomas didn't refute her claim, after all she was the heir, and he wouldn't live forever. Julia thought she saw another guest wink at her, but when she turned he was gone. Afterwards Isabella stayed and talked with Julia. Thomas even joined them and made partial amends with Isabella. When everyone had left Thomas handed Julia an envelope, as a birthday present he'd bought her a plot of land and commissioned the building of an upscale Bistro on the site. That night as Julia drifted off to sleep she could her Thomas arguing with himself. Julia was surprised when her phone beeped. The number didn't look familiar, but the message was hopeful. - Hi, I was at your transition party. I am single unlike the other guy. I would have stayed later but I work at a receiving home in exchange for bed & board. I'd like to get to know you, does lunch sound good? Julia stared at the screen for several minutes, his picture looked vaguely familiar. Was he the guy who had winked? Taking a deep breath she decided to take a chance. - Lunch sounds good. Meet me at the new Bistro. Watching him walk up Julia realized it was the guy who had winked. They stood around and talked a little bit before finally going in for a late lunch. By the end of lunch Julia felt as if she'd met her soulmate. Taking a deep breath Julia asked Cole if he'd like to come over to her house and hang out. Cole checked his phone before answering. He explained he just needed to make sure that someone would cover his duties. He'd already explained how he had grown up bouncing between foster homes and had had his final transition at the receiving home. She for warned him that her dad was insane, it wasn't hereditary or at least she hadn't inherited his insanity, but she had no idea of how he would act around Cole. On the way home she received a text from Isabella. "Delivered baby, boy, named him Ellis. Everything went well." Once home, Julia was relieved when her dad made himself scarce. As she and Cole talked late into the night, the evening took a turn towards romance. The more she learned about Cole the more she realized that she never wanted to say goodbye. Opening a drawer she pulled out Stevie & Shannon's bands that she had inherited on her Grandma Stevie's death. - I know this is sudden, that maybe we are rushing things ... Julia knelt - Cole will you marry me. Julia and Cole had a private ceremony that evening. They also agreed that they wanted to hold off on making a baby. They were about to head upstairs when Cole's phone chimed. It was the director of the receiving home letting Cole know that his bed was needed. After a brief whispered discussion Julia took the phone from Cole. - Hi I'm Julia Verde, Cole and I just got married. We have space here in our home and are more than willing to take in a child. Julia, felt as if it was serendipitous that the child dropped off was named Kyle. As they ate breakfast with Kyle they learned that he had siblings who were also waiting to be placed. Julia made a call. After an extensive conversation, she got the social worker to agree to bring over Kyle's siblings and start the adoption paper work. It felt weird, here she had planned on waiting to have children, yet she knew that these children needed a forever home. She hoped that she would be better at parenting than her dad was. Yes an instant family would be work but she and Cole would have no problems. After all he didn't have to work if he didn't want to and she was free to set her own hours since she owned the Bistro she worked at. By the end of the day Kyle's siblings; Andie, Janice, and Trisha; had been dropped off along with the legal documents making Julia and Cole the guardians of the small family. Julia had had a few nervous moments when the social worker met her dad. When Thomas told her to take his room and agreed to let her make over the kitchen and dining room. Julia felt a moment of surprise. The following morning Cole woke before her, nudged her and pointed at a small statue on their dresser. Julia read the note pinned by the statue while Cole went to care for the little ones. - I may not have been the best dad, but I figure you'll need the bed space when Andie transitions. I wish you and Cole the best. Thomas
