Generation 5 Roll
Stevie Verde; athletic, brave, natural born cook, virtuoso, genius Marital Status: Couple Your sim must obtain a spouse or partner to live with them in the household. The spouse or partner does not technically have to be the father/mother of the children, but they must be present in the household. Number of Children: 2 Children Your generation is only allowed to have 2 children. Note that exceeding this number by having accidental twins or triplets is fine, but you must not have any more children after that. Primary Career: Law Enforcement (Super Spy) Secondary Career: Farmer/Nectar MakerGrow and sell your own produce or your bottles of nectar. You'll have to choose between these two options when you register at city hall, since they are two different self-employed careers! However, you may register as either, and do both. Also, if you have the Supernatural expansion pack, your farmer/nectar maker sim may sell honey and wax from their own bee hives. Also in the Supernatural EP, your farmer Sim may compete in the daily gardening competition held at the fairy arboretum rabbithole. NOTE: the heir may take over the family's existing garden, if a garden does exist, but may only sell produce they harvest themselves. NOTE: Nectar making is exclusive to World Adventures. Generational Goal: Hobby, or Obsession? Pick a "Hobby" for your Sim, based on their traits, or on their character as you see them. The heir (and spouse where applicable) must spend at least 5 Sim hours a week pursuing their hobby. Your Sim must not make money from this hobby. If you use writing, then only use "Practice writing" and not "Write a book". Miscellaneous Fun: Fashion Diva Your Sim like to keep up with the latest trends. They must Plan Outfit and change at least ONE of their outfits at least once a Sim week (Sunday AM to Saturday PM). Making extra outfits is also allowed if you don't want to lose the one you have. Update 5/13/2017
The poll is now officially closed the final votes are as follows Diner 47.37% (9 votes) Community Garden 31.58% (6 votes) Big Park 10.53% (2 votes) Theater 10.52% (2 votes) Total Votes: 19 There are 4 possible lots that would work well for generation 5 to add to the island, but only two can added. You can take the poll at Wordpress or drop a comment on your choices here. A big park would build up the currently empty lot that currently everyone just hangs out on and tosses around balls or reads a book. Requires maxed Logic and Gardening. Community garden would take the pressure off of maintaining a home garden for fresh produce. Only requires maxed gardening. Diner, it would be nice for sims to have someplace to eat out once in awhile. Requires maxed cooking skill Theater, like the diner it would give sims another place to go. Requires maxed guitar and logic skills. This poll will stay open longer than the heir choice one, as there is much more time before a final choice has to be made. Okay it's been a bit since my last update, primarily because I haven't been playing sims. I've been playing Banished trying to complete the "One with Nature - Reach 400 citizens without building crops fields, orchards, or pastures." accomplishment before I build the trading post. After much testing I've reached the conclusion that the current year the town is in is just a bad foraging year, and that since I've already completed the "Uneducated - Reach a population of 300 citizens without building schools." & "Isolationist - Reach 300 citizens without building a trading post." achievements I have two choices; 1) suck it up and loose 1/3 to 1/2 of the towns population, or 2) start a new town but with schools from the start. I'll probably go with option 1 as I really like the valley map the town is on, and if possible I want to clear as many achievements with 1 town rather than a new town for each achievement. I also took some time off to play with s4's version of plantsims, my final take away regarding the plantsim - Meh!; but the tree is cool because you can visit daily and bring out 4 or so collectibles of assorted variety. Another factor that's going to impact postings I'm going to try my hand at selling jewelry that I make. Fingers crossed that it goes well, because an income again of my own no matter how small would be nice. Now for sims 3 & The Verde's. :) Thank you to those of you who took the time to comment on my very short & informal heir poll. Life has been busy for the Verde's. Chance was thrilled to learn that he didn't have to be heir unless he really wanted to be, he said he'd rather be a hermit in the wilderness but since that wasn't an option he'd stick around long enough to help his mom get the land for the studio and then he was getting a studio so he could be alone. Jackie and Mu were also glad to be off the hook as they had their own ideas of what they wanted out of life. With the heir situation resolved everyone concentrated on making sure that Stevie would grow up with as many skills in place as possible. Everyone took turns helping Stevie learn how to use the potty chair but it was Zach who was helping her when she finally fully understood the concept. Given the length of her maternity leave Midori spent a good amount of time teaching Stevie how to talk. Midori also spent a lot of time with her garden since it provided a decent income. The siblings enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere, and frequently hung out together discussing their plans for the future. Chance was still determined to live alone in a small home for one, while Jackie and Mu agreed that it made sense for them to share a home together at first to cut down expenses. Jamal was determined that he would be the one to teach Stevie how to walk. While Mu decided to help her mom teach Stevie how to talk. In no time at all Stevie had all her basic skills down and was allowed to play with other stuff. Jamal had a lot of 'dad' chats with Jackie and Mu, sounding out their ideas and telling lame jokes. Jamal got a request from their neighbor for some quality fresh produce. Stevie was content playing both by herself or with an adult. With the children well in hand Midori made sure that Zach took plenty of time off away from the house. Most of the time he would play guitar at the park but once in awhile he would go play at the graveyard instead. The same day Midori finally had enough simoleans to buy land for the gym and to start building on it she also transitioned to elder. For reasons only he new Chance stayed on a few days longer, which gave him time to have some 'dad' chats with Jamal. Midori was surprised to learn that the city had very specific ideas of what constituted a gym and that until her property was up to their standards she wouldn't earn any income from the property. Midori grumbled that had she known she might have waited until she had the full 140,000 simoleans to invest, but even just what she had invested so far was helping people improve their health so she didn't mind as much. Before they knew it Stevie's transition day was on them. While Stevie was chowing down her cake Chance announced that he was moving out. His new home, without windows by his choice, was just a few blocks away, and while he would prefer total solitude family was welcome to drop by anytime they wanted. Stevie's first day of school she got invited home to the neighbors house. Jackie decided to hide in the bathroom for her transition day, Stevie still wished her a happy birthday. Jamal and Midori both continued to work, determined to show the next generation how things were done, even though they were both eligible to retire. Sometimes after work Midori would pop over and visit Chance. Jamal saw him everyday at work so didn't feel the need to go visit. Midori continued to invest in the gym. She and Jamal also continued to demonstrate to each other that just because they were older the spark wasn't gone. (Seriously these to do almost as much spontaneous flirting as Louise & Frodo Behrooz did.) After a few promotions Midori finally had enough money to install a proper pool area and start to work on the main building of the gym. Midori toyed with the idea of staying on at work a little longer once she reached the top level at work, but decided that she'd rather enjoy what was left of her elder day's with Jamal seeing as they'd recently been touted as the golden example of a good marriage in the local paper due to how long they'd been married. Then it was Mu's turn to transition. Zach sniffled and said he'd miss the sisters when they moved out. Jackie & Mu reassured him they weren't leaving just yet. Neither sister moved on from their part time jobs. For Jackie it was the lack of a local sports team that had her focusing on learning recipes instead of trying to pursue a regular career. Mu flat out admitted she didn't really want to work and was hoping to marry someone rich. It saddened Midori to realize that they had raised a gold digger but nothing could be done about it. A few days later Jamal celebrated reaching the peak of his career and also retired. Midori already new the property the girls planned to move to and bought it from the city, added a small garden of perfect plants and then sold it back. Transition day finally rolled around for Stevie, being the little genius that she is she insisted on doing her homework before celebrating her transition. Even though Stevie was tired and wanted a bath she made her goodbye's to Zach. He was moving with her older sisters to the new house one block away. After a bite of cake Jamal went over to visit with Zach. Zach explained it was what he wanted, to see the sisters settled in before he faded which he knew was imminent. Later that evening as Midori, Jamal, and Stevie were adjusting to how quite the house was with everyone gone they got a call from Jackie, Zach had faded in his sleep and had left his guitar to Stevie since she loved music even more than he had. Midori made a visit to her daughters a few days later to see how they were doing, and collect the guitar for Stevie. She told Jackie that she wasn't to impressed with how thrown together the houses floor plan was. Jackie said they didn't mind because they didn't actually plan on staying in forever, and actually had plans to move in with whomever they eventually married. Midori held her tongue even though she wanted to remind her daughters that good family homes were in short supply on the island. Midori was happy when she was finally able to get the main gym building finished. For now it would be just a one story building but if she needed to she could add a second floor to the building later. Even though the gym didn't meet city halls requirements the island residents loved the gym, and it stayed busy. Midori and Jamal continued to encourage Stevie to develop her skills. When Stevie said she wanted to join the ROTC, they let her even though Midori was concerned that the military might not be the right fit for their daughter. After one weekend of ROTC Stevie decided that just maybe her parents had been right the military life just wasn't for her. Each day she left so stressed that it took several hours of working out to unwind. Once she was relaxed she would get a cousin to be a study buddy and do homework with them. Stevie learned fast that pretty much everyone on the island with red hair was a cousin to some degree whether 1st cousin or cousin at 5th remove. She wasn't sure if that would make finding a life partner easier or harder in the long run. She hoped she could find someone who enjoyed gardening, because she didn't, but she didn't want to let her mom's perfect garden die out either. Stevie decided that working out at the gym was decidedly preferable as her parents tended to get all mushy & romantic at odd times, usually obstructing her view of the exercise video she was using. To get her mind off her parents being old and gross she would grab her guitar and play at the park. Even as Stevie knew that her formal career would be tied to her athleticism & logic skills, she also knew that playing guitar would be her hobby and obsession. When Chance and another officer came to the school and talked about the observation & ride along program that the police had for teens Stevie was the first to sign up. Even though she didn't need it she frequently asked her parents for help with her homework as it gave them time to talk while she worked. Stevie promised her mom, Midori, that even if Midori passed before the gym fully met city hall requirements that she, Stevie, would see that the building was finished to code. Which apparently was done to a large screen tv and some wall mirrors, along with a few changes to the exterior finish. If you haven't guessed yet, the next post will start generation 5 in full. As of last save Jamal was at 91 sim days of age and Midori is only about 5 or 6 sim days behind him.
Stevie, the heir, will be taking over from here out. Outside of about 11,000 simoleans worth of improvements on the gym generation 4 has pretty much completed all of the goals assigned them. Let me just say that the "hands off" goal was a real challenge, I caught myself so many times starting to do the 'hand of god' to move items around. The exception I made was moving produce to the fridge since I couldn't find an option to have sims put away freshly harvested produce. It also meant I couldn't just set out toddler books for Stevie to read as a baby. Midori continued to supplement the family's income from the small garden plot. Even though Chance is very much a loner, he still spends time playing with Mu and helping her learn to walk. Jamal takes advantage of the extra time to chat with Jackie. Finished working outside Midori turns on the boosted tv set and watches the gardening channel, which helps her master the skill and complete her ltw of Renaissance sim. Eventually Chance and Jackie join her. (Note: Small blooper in 4-3 post. Zach didn't max his artistic skill - yet, he did however have a midlife crisis which allowed him to channel his kleptomaniac urges in a positive direction and he now has the neat trait instead of klepto. No other traits were adjusted.) Zach did finally max his artistic skill, which made him very happy. Mu wasn't quite sleepy yet so Jamal staid up reading while she ate & played. Chance really wanted a job so his parents signed his work permit. Even though Midori was happy to be going back to work she still took time to check in on Mu before leaving. The day went by quickly for the family. Midori was excited that she'd received another promotion on her first day back to work. Jamal received a call requesting he help a gentleman from the business office see the benefits of logical choices that seem counter the needs of businesses. Jamal did such a good job he was granted a certificate for Logic Mastery. After a brief presentation to city council, the city received a pro bono build from Dragon Construction for the creation of a proper police station. New housing was also wanted but the contract negotiations on those took a little longer. Jamal got a job right away at the newly constructed station. The week progressed nicely. One day both Jamal and Midori came home excited about promotions they had received. While they were 'celebrating' Mu's birthday snuck past them and she transitioned from toddler to child. Midori ordered a sprinkler she'd seen on the garden channel and adjusted it to automatically water the garden in the mornings for her. Mu just loves to play in the sprinkler after she finishes her homework. Zach gets invited on a date. He's rather ambivalent about it and plays guitar for tips instead of hanging out with his date. Jamal has a different problem, his undercover clothes from work turned him invisible. Happily a quick wash takes car of the problem. Friday rolls around and Midori wants to celebrate yet another promotion, she falls asleep right after, but Jamal wanders downstairs just in time for Jackie's birthday transition to teen. Saturday Jackie and Chance head out for the park. They're sad that the only thing to do at the park is stand around and talk. Midori wakes up at odds with herself, her stomach is upset yet she's craving cheesy foods. (Every pregnancy craving save one with simlet 4 was macaroni & cheese or grilled cheese. O_O ) Mu is happy she is allowed to go fishing on her own, even though she's clumsy she loves the outdoors. Midori gets tired of hearing the protestors chant so she goes inside to watch cooking shows. Before Midori knows it, it's time to deliver her final child. Waddling into the house she wishes Jamal were home but he's out getting statements from people at the park. After a fair amount of time she finally delivers a little girl whom they are naming Stevie. After getting Stevie settled into her crib, Midori heads down to the kitchen to help Zach celebrate his transition to elder. Zach let's Midori know that he's not up to the challenge of infant care anymore. Midori doesn't mind her gardening time is reduced greatly by the automatic sprinkler she installed. Sometimes Jamal grumbles that he hardly ever sees his youngest daughter. Before they know it a whole bunch of birthdays have snuck up on them. One evening before everyone heads off to bed they pause to celebrate the transitions. First Jamal transitions to elder, he wants to retire but he also wants to help Midori build a community gym and at 50 thousand their getting very close to that goal. Next up is Mu, her childhood sped right past everyone and now she's entering her teen years. Last to celebrate is Chance he's finally a full adult. He's decided to enter law enforcement too, and he's sure he can keep his kleptomania under control. The following morning just before the car pool and bus arrives Midori calls everyone around to help celebrate Stevie's transition from infant to toddler. Stevie needs a nap early today and falls asleep on the kitchen floor. Stevie also inherited her moms red hair, but where did those blue-green eyes come from? Midori tells Chance that the role of heir is still undecided, and that it's going to be left to some people called 'simmers' to help the journalist decide who will be heir. Heir vote on the forums. Going mostly off pic's since I didn't write down any notes. A lot happened over the course of game play. With Chance now a toddler, Midori decided it was time for a second child. She felt they could afford it due to a recent promotion at work. Jamal ended up teaching Chance most of his toddler skills, Midori helped too when she wasn't feeling to ill. While she was happy about the confirmation of her pregnancy she wondered why the morning sickness didn't go away like it had with Chance. Zach wasn't interested in a party and had hoped his transition to middle aged adult would go unnoticed, he had no such luck. Midori continued to supplement the families income by selling produce to the family store. They used the extra money to add on to the upper floor of the house, after all Chance wouldn't stay little forever and with a second child on the way the extra room would be needed. Midori thought she needed the bathroom, but nope time for the baby to arrive. Welcome to the family Jackie. Jamal celebrated his transition and the mastery of athleticism. Keeping a baby crib in the room, isn't very conducive to a good nights sleep. The next day Midori and Jamal discuss remodel ideas. Chance has outgrown his crib, look at those lovely lavender eyes. Don't worry Chance with more siblings to come you might not have to be the heir, and if you do end up being heir ... well maybe you can have a midlife crisis early. (Chances traits are not very favorable.) With Chance now able to go to school his parents enjoy the breather that comes from only one child at home. It's not until a few days later that Midori realizes that they may have gotten ahead of themselves. She unhappily informs her bosses of her extended maternity leave. They celebrate Jackie's birthday, look Chance Jackie's hair is red just like yours, who knows maybe she'll be heir. Midori takes her time with gardening while Jamal shifts his focus to mastering logic. Midori delivers a second daughter and names her Mu. Shortly after Mu's birth Midori's midlife transition sneaks up on her. At Chances request a few more toys are added to the house. Before they know it it's time to celebrate Mu's transition to toddler, and Chances transition to teen. With two toddlers in the house everyone is kept busy. Their so busy they forget that it's Jackie's turn to transition. Don't worry Jackie, just because your transition snuck past the adults doesn't mean they don't care about you. Midori is looking forward to returning to work and wants to advance another level or two before she has her final simlet. Jamal is coming close to maxing his logic, while Cousin Zach has mastered his painting skill already and has earned a very tidy sum for several of his paintings. Midori knows that a savings of about 26 thousand is nice, it's now where near the 72 thousand plus that she needs to purchase land and build a gym for the town. Midori has been very busy, as have her fiance and cousin. Midori and Jamal did take a break to invite their families over for their wedding. Which because of Jamal getting cold feet almost didn't happen. After the ceremony Midori thanked her aunt for the loan of the stereo, everyone hung out for a bit longer. An exhausted Jamal reassured his little sister that he would keep in touch. The newly weds were so tired from the days events that they fell asleep as soon as their heads hit their pillows. The days after the wedding continued to be about improve skills. Midori and Jamal finally got some time to themselves. Midori started getting frustrated with the plumbing constantly breaking, she also complained that all food smells were nauseating. Jamal grinned as one of 5, he suspected he knew the cause behind Midori's mood swings. Soon enough they found out he was right. Midori visited with her dad and sister. Midori learned that Duri had just had a daughter named Maggie. While there she got permission for one last harvest of her parents garden. While waiting for the baby to be born everyone continued to focus on their skills. After what felt like an eternity to Midori two events happened within close proximity of each other. She finally maxed her handiness skill and their baby arrived. Despite their joint hopes for a girl they had a son whom they named Chance. After Chances birth Midori took a job at the towns new military base, hoping that a steady paycheck would allow her to open town gym sooner. They ended up using the first two paychecks and promotion bonus to add a nursery to the house. For Chances first transition they held a party and invited family. Sadly Lea, Midori's mom, passed away before the party and then her dad, Donte, passed away at the end of the party. Other than that the party went well. Everyone took turns with Chance helping him learn his toddler skills. Jamal even read him a book about finger painting. Despite a few shocking set backs Midori has not regretted her choice to move out as soon as she could. Her first few days were spent jogging around town, harvesting fresh produce from her parents yard, and clearing a patch of cement out of the yard for a garden. She only gets to harvest for her first few days, once she has a good supply, or her own garden well established, of the 12 available plants she won't allowed to harvest anymore. She also grudgingly paid for a share in the grocery store. Zach stuck mostly around the house, helped with the tiny garden, did housework, and handled the cooking. Since Midori can't cook very well yet she's grateful that her cousin Zach is a skilled cook. Thinking to the future and the fact that she would need to provide children for a future generation Midori took a break from her training and hit the fishing hole to meet up with people. It didn't surprise her to see almost the entire Hartman clan out. She knew Mark from school, he was a grade below her and hadn't graduated yet. She hadn't met his older brothers as they'd been in the upper classes when she and Duri started. Midori and Jamal hit it off the bat right away, she learned that he was really into family and athleticism. After a couple of times hanging out together Midori was sure that Jamal was The One, after all he even got on well with her crazy cousin Zach, and not only asked him to move in but to get married. As an unexpected bonus Jamal brought in enough money that coupled with what she already had they were able to get a partnership in the bookstore as well. Since she now had the skill needed to train people at a proper gym in addition to marrying Jamal Midori has added the goal of raising enough money to open a gym in town, she already has the desired lot picked out it's a matter of raising the money. Midori and Jamal have agreed that their respective families would probably kill them if they got married by private ceremony so in the near future they will be have a party and get married then. Generation 4 Progress and Summary

Will only be going to the park to play for tips once in a while when stir crazy moodlet pops up. Generation 4 Goals Marital Status: Couple with 'Help' This roll is a combination of the Couple roll and the Single Parent with 'Help' roll. Your sim must obtain a spouse or partner to live with them in the household. They must also move in a non-romantic sim to help raise the children. The 'helper' may have children of their own, but is not allowed to move in a partner. This sim's children count towards the total rolled. All children in the house must live by that generation's rules. The helper may move out when the heir comes of age, just like the previous heir, but that is not required. Number of Children: 4 Children Your generation is only allowed to have 4 children. Note that exceeding this number by having accidental twins or triplets is fine, but you must not have any more children after that. Primary Career: Military Secondary Career: Law Enforcement (Super Spy) Primary Career: Artist Paint or sculpt (or both!) and sell the finished products. Generational Goal: Change of Scenery Your Sim is fed up of the same 4 walls and wants to move. Re-roll if generation 1. Either: 1. Delete everything in your house which isn't Sim made (paintings, etc.), a career trophy, or from a vacation world. Then demolish your house, and build a new one from scratch. 2. Place a pre-built house somewhere in your town and move into it. 3. Move into another existing house in your town. 4. Move your Sims to a new town. If you choose this option, then for neighborhood continuity reasons your Sims may NOT move into a town your legacy has already lived in. Also if choosing this option, you may choose to keep your old house, but plop it down somewhere in the new town. Miscellaneous Fun: Hands Off You may not use the robotic hand of god function in awesomemod, or otherwise use your mouse to move things from one inventory to another, clean up laundry, dirty plates, etc. Let those sims clean up after themselves for a while. All items for careers must be sold in the Consignment Store (Ambitions), or to rabbitholes that will buy them (i.e. a gardener career Sim may sell produce to the grocery store). Primary Lots to add: Military Base - Maxed Handiness and Athletics (no money requirement). Gym - Maxed Athletics, and must purchase the lot. $71,200 Might try to add the police department lot for the spouses career since it doesn't take money just maxing skills. Notes: After Midori moved into her new home with Zach I discovered a flaw, or hiccup if you will, to the game. To which I'm putting the storied spin of "I'm not dead yet and you have to share with your twin." The ownership of the 4 community lots didn't travel with Midori when she moved to the new lot, even though she retained the family funds. An additional hiccup is the food from the fridge didn't travel with her either, so she's going to have to make a trip home to raid the family garden. So in addition to working on her skills for her career, she will be gardening a fair bit as will Zach. Funding goals, in addition to the money needed to build a gym, she is going to also need to raise funds to become partners in each of the 4 lots owned by her dad, and with luck eventually buy out her twins shares. I'm not sure if that could have been avoided, had I/she waited until after Donte and Lea had passed on of old age or if the ownership would have stayed tied to the old lot and her twin. I was in to much of a hurry to move on to a new lot to find out. To me it made sense for the spouse to be an athletic individual, and I still don't know who her spouse will be as she has many choices. Since their are to be 4 children, Zach will be staying single - his traits just aren't conducive to pairing off easily, I don't know which of the 4 will be heir especially as they're not even in existences yet. :) Even though I've called the change of scenery goal completed all ready there is still a chance that Midori might move yet again, or raze the existing house and rebuild from scratch at a later date since her new home was thrown together quickly without much thought for a large family. For most of this time we have sims working hard. Donte finally understanding that the garden was a source of income as well as food, and that had he and Lea been gardening all along then maybe there would have been more money for investing and they wouldn't have lost the science center, not would he have had to choose between a proper cemetery and the library that he and his father had dreamed of. With the extra money from their stashed fish and produce it was easy to get the extra money needed to bring a business building in to town. It was big enough to house several other corporation offices besides the offices needed for the newspaper. Which helped balance the loss of jobs from the loss of the science center. Lea and Donte both transitioned to elder within a few days of each other. Donte made it clear that he still had the stamina to physically express just how much he loved his wife. City council had an open hearing to discuss the fate of the fishing hole. After listening to everyone it was decided that a second space was needed as a park so that folks who liked to fish could once again do so in peace. As the twins birthday loomed closer Lea learned that Diedra was concerned for her eldest son. He was insane and kept getting in trouble for taking the neighbors lawn decor, yet he had the gentle soul of an artist and loved nothing more than spending his days painting or playing the guitar. So one day after one of Donte's fundraisers on what could eventually be the town's park, Lea pulled her nephew Zachariah Verde (Zach from here out) aside and had a long talk with him. At the end of the talk they came to an understanding in trade for being live in help for his cousins Lea would tutor him in guitar basics. Which was something he wanted to learn. Donte had acquired the land where the family remains had already been interred and got a proper mausoleum built on to it. An attempt to plant grass was made but the seed didn't take to the soil well and it grew with a yellow tinge and dried out quickly. The cherry tree planted in the corner reserved for the family bloomed nicely but didn't fruit. At one point Donte was asked why the cemetery instead of the library, he pointed to the population boom that had happened in his lifetime, and that like himself everyone was growing older. The town needed a proper cemetery, simple as that. Eventually Donte decided that he'd done enough and retired from his spot on the city council. Before they knew it it was time for the twins next transition. Donte ordered a couple of cakes and invited over all of the teens and a few young adults that the girls knew. He insisted it be a formal occasion. Donte had known that Midori planned on moving away from the family property in time he just hadn't realized that she planned to do it right after her transition. Generation 3 Wrap Up
I might have been overly ambitious with the build up goals for generation 3. Every goal but adding a library was completed. Library will just have to wait a few more generations to happen. Midori has moved on to a new home lot in the midtown area, leaving Duri the family property should she choose to remain on it. At the end of Generation 3 the family owned the grocery store, bookstore, business building, and graveyard. Here ends generation 3. The Verde's have been busy. As previously mentioned with the twins now in school both Donte and Lea renewed their focus on their careers with a vigor and spent almost all of their waking hours building up their skill base. Donte also focused on his painting as he felt this was a better revenue stream for him than trying to write on the computer which he really wanted to sabotage. If it wasn't for his wife and daughters he would have sold off both the tv and computer by now, as a technophobe he just didn't see the point of technology. Lea spent a fair bit of her time playing for tips in the park. She really liked the extra money, but wished she had a more steady income stream. One day while playing in the park Lea overheard of a sale going on at the bookstore. Being the frugal sim that she is she took advantage of the sale and picked up a few skill books for her husband, she really wanted key lime pie and he was taking to long to improve his cooking skill and wouldn't watch the cooking network with her, so a cookbook was the next best thing in her book. She also picked him up a book on speech while she was there so he'd have a way improve his speaking technique besides standing in front of mirrors all day. When she mentioned to Donte that she was going to the bookstore he asked her to also pick up an advanced gardening book for him. He wanted to be able to plant some of the fruits and vegetables his grandmother had grown so easily, but didn't know how to properly plant them. Donte took it as a good sign when a rainbow appeared over the island the day he maxed his charisma skill. Worried about generating enough income to bring in an office building, let alone any other developed lots, Donte dusted off the map his grandma had made and started collecting gems, rocks, and minerals on top of renewed dumpster diving. The money was good but not steady enough, so he took up a job at city hall as a clerk confident that with his narration skill plus heritage of founding family member that he would be able to advance quickly. His second day on the job Donte discovered two horrific pieces of information. First being their was an unpaid bill for $140,000 for the land where the science center had been built and that if it wasn't paid soon Sprockets R Us would have no choice but to move their science facility someplace else. Secondly, there had been to much development on the land where the fishing hole was and the city was trying to decide whether they should rezone the land or demolish it. The council was split 50-50 as both decisions cost the same amount of money, and despite the influx of new residents the island just didn't have enough revenue coming in, yet. One day while out collecting Donte discovered he had two ways to reach the uninhabited smaller island off to the west. He could swim to it, which was a little nerve wracking the first time he swam it, what with sharks in the water and the distance seemed much larger than it actually was; or the taxi's had a mysterious ability to drive on the water and straight up the cliff face. (Had I known the taxis would drive on the water and up the cliff face I would have left the 3 lots on the small island. Despite the weird appearance of a car driving on the water. lol) Now despite being very focused on their skills Donte and Lea also made sure that they didn't neglect their daughters, and spent a fair amount of time with them as a family. Including throwing them a big family & friends party when they transitioned from children to teen. With the transition to teen the twins personalities became even more noticeable. Midori liked to start her mornings with a workout, and was very handy with a wrench. Duri had a natural affinity for computers, and was entertaining the idea of maybe becoming an artist like her dad, but she wasn't committed one way or the other yet. Both girls preferred jogging to and from school to riding the school bus. Midori hinted to her sister that an artist would be the perfect live in help for a couple raising a bunch of kids, but not so many kids that they'd be surrounded by family. She also stated that she wanted her future mate to be athletic, smart, and interested in keeping both the streets and world safe from dangerous criminals. She was less subtle with her grumbles about the decades old home they lived in and swore that when she was an adult she was going to live someplace completely new. Brief summary
Both Donte and Lea have completed all of their skill requirements for their careers. Now it's a matter of raising the money needed for the lot's I want to add for the generation and maybe save the science center. So far family funds are getting close to what's needed for the office building. I goofed the science building add, thinking it was skill only not skill plus money. If gen 4 stays on the island the science building goes goodbye. Gen 4 plus future gens will most likely stay on the island as I don't want to deal with rounding up grave markers and cousins to in an attempt to keep family connections that would get lost with a bin move to a new world map. Also for those intimate with the Nothing is Free challenge, yes I am going against the rules with adding more than one building/lot per sim, but hey I did state in the setup post that I was pulling inspiration not hard fast rules from the challenge. ;) Wait did I just see hints for gen 4 goals? Yes, yes indeed there are hints to the gen 4 goals in this post; marital status, family size, and careers are all hinted at to the discerning reader. The only thing not hinted is who will become Midori's life partner since that is still a big unknown. :) |

Gen 2: * Had Natasha eat 3 life fruit to extend her age. * Used tce true to trigger Natasha's age transition from adult to elder and then to death. Gen 5: * Took the 3 possible heirs into cas, for YA headshots. Gen 7: tce + cas to change the last names of both girls to Verde when they became toddlers. Also snuck a peak at their YA stage to see if heir was going to be obvious or if a poll would be needed. Gen 8: Saying goodbye to Julia. And changing out the mailbox & trash can on the new home lot. Tce family funds to 0, shipwrecked = another broke start after camp set up. ;) Lastly tce add to family, while game was paused to add three households in addition to the Verde's to the island. Goofs! Oops! Oh Crap! * This applies to gen one but I didn't catch it until gen 3. I was supposed to have $140,000 and Buy the science building. I haven't decided how I'm going to handle this ... but I think I know what I'll be doing. :( Random Legacy Progress Past Generations
