Thomas quickly learned that being in charge wasn't everything he thought it would be. He invited Aisha over, and then got mad at her for thinking they were on a date just because he flirted a little when he greeted her. When he made it clear he wasn't going to ask her to marry him she left in a huff, and said she'd had more fun watching paint dry. Thomas didn't care, he headed over to the gym. The nice thing about owning the gym was he could work out whenever he wanted. Polly-Anna had one fight with him because he didn't rush out and get a job right away. He was quick to point out that being an author wasn't exactly a regular job. He knew he got to her because she was hitting the keys hard as she typed. Peak fitness, given he'd been working out since his primary days it didn't shock him. Maybe he'd take it further. This time the talk with Aisha went better. Yes they were still dating, but he didn't plan on settling down anytime soon if ever. Aisha was willing to live with that and agreed to move in. It beat living at home with her parents. Thomas was more than happy to let Aisha take over garden duty. Needing a break from refining her typing skills Polly-Anna accepted a call to go on a date from one of their old classmates. She was surprised to learn he hadn't transitioned yet, and polity informed him that it would be best if they were only friends for now. Then after he had transitioned if he was still interested, then they could talk about dating. Back at the house Aisha declined Thomas's invite to play chess. Pointing out that if she was going to be a ceo eventually she would need good speaking skills. Thomas mumbled what sounded like an affirmative and refocused on the chess board. Arriving home from the busted date Polly-Anna refocused on her typing. Several hours later as her twins snores drifted down the stairs she closed the laptop. She had finally mastered the writing program, and would have no problems with future manuscripts for publishing. Or so she hoped. Happily, for Polly-Anna, city hall kept clerks on duty 24 hours a day. She was able to make two changes with one stop. First she commissioned a library from Dragon Construction. The new library like all buildings in town had two unisex bathrooms, There was a computer center, a children's reading & learning area, regular reading area complete with a reference section, and a small multi-purpose conference room that could be used for both adult programs and children's programs. Then she arranged to move to the other small house which surprisingly was still on the market. Polly-Anna didn't mind that her brother would be the one profiting from the library, because she was confident that her books would sell very well. After all her first book published as a teen was netting her over $500 a week in royalties, and her paintings also fetched good sums. She was also more than happy to get out now before things blew up between Aisha and Thomas, Polly-Anna wasn't sure how bad things would get but she was certain that Aisha didn't plan on staying single forever, and she was also confident that Thomas had no plans on putting a ring on Aisha's finger. So getting out now was a good thing.

Generation 6 Roll
Marital Status: Single Parent The single parent must raise all required children on his/her own, which means a spouse/partner isn't allowed to live in the same household as the single parent and the children. The single parent may romance as much as they like, but moving in a partner to help raise those kids is what's forbidden. Your single parent Sim may marry or have a live in partner before the first child is born or adopted, but that spouse/partner must be moved out of the household within 24 hours after the first child is born or adopted. After the first child is born, male single Sims may move in the mothers of subsequent biological children for the pregnancy only. The mother must leave the household within 24 hours after the baby is born. Single males may also use other methods, including mods or cheats, of adding their babies to the household without ever moving the mother in at all. The restriction on moving in the single parent's partner is removed once their youngest child has reached the mid point of the teen age stage (7 days for the unaltered normal lifespan; if you've tweaked the teen stage, it's whatever the halfway point is for your custom stage). After the youngest has reached the mid point of the teen stage, your single Sim may then move in or marry one partner, if you so desire (this obviously isn't required). The partner can be anyone. Number of Children: 2 Children Your generation is only allowed to have 2 children. Note that exceeding this number by having accidental twins or triplets is fine, but you must not have any more children after that. Primary Career: Criminal (Thief) Generational Goal: Perfectionist Choose a skill for your Sim to be perfect at. Your Sim must max this skill, and also complete all skill challenges related to this skill (found in the Skill Journal of your Sim's Skill Panel), except in cases where the skill challenge requires your Sim to make money to complete the challenge. Exceptions example: in the instruments skill challenge, Money Maker requires your Sim to earn 25k in tips and cannot be completed unless your Sim rolled Busker, and the writing skill, which requires you to earn royalties and therefore cannot be completed unless your Sim rolled writer as a career, and in the mixology skill's Master Mixologist challenge, which requires your Sim to earn money moonlighting at bars, and cannot be completed unless your Sim has rolled Mixologist as a career. Another exception in the Mixology skill challenge is for Professor of Drinks, which can't be completed unless you have every type of bar in your neighborhood (learning all the drinks requires all the bars be available to learn their unique drinks.) So, if the town you are playing in does not have every type of bar in place, you are exempted from completing Professor of Drinks. There may be other skill challenges that we have not noticed which cannot be completed because they require skill based income, or something that's unfair to expect every town to have, etc. If you find one, please report it in the MTS thread; those challenges will be specifically exempted as well. Miscellaneous Fun: Live Your Trait Choose one of your heir's 5 traits to live by. The heir, starting at YA age, will have to do something every day that reflects this trait, and must fulfill any wishes that come up that are related to this trait, up to 5 wishes a day. If your heir rolls more than 5 trait related wishes in a day, you only have to do 5, though you can certainly do more. (Except for wishes related to the trait that would require you to break the income restriction rules). It's not required to complete the wishes on the same day they are rolled, but try to complete them as soon as you can. Not every trait will be suitable for this rule, so you must be sure when choosing traits for your heir that you pick one that can be used for this rule. It must be a trait that allows you to actively do something every day for this trait and gives you wishes you can fulfill. For example: artistic, athletic, virtuoso, neurotic, good, evil etc are good, but clumsy, loner, can't stand art, lucky, unlucky, etc. are not good. Your heir can have these traits, but you must have one trait with related activities and wishes to choose as your dominant trait. Lots to add: Criminal Warehouse - Maxed Athletics and Logic, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($50,000) Library - Maxed Writing, and must purchase the lot. ($36,000 + $35,000 for lot build up for 1 star) Stevie and Shanon continue to enjoy life to the fullest. Both confide in each other that once Stevie is no longer 'the heir' they'd like to make some changes in their lives. When Stevie asked Polly-Anna where her brother was during Shanon's transition, Polly-Anna replies that he was arguing with himself as always. Stevie and Shanon frequently discuss their hobbies with each other as well the progress the twins are making. - Do you think Thomas will follow you into law enforcement? - It would seem that way, but given his attitude and refusal to commit to any serious discussion on his future I don't think he will. - Why then do you think he focuses so much on logic and fitness? - Not sure, but he gets really smirky every time he outwits me at chess. Cobbler for breakfast, yum. - Stevie do you ever worry that all Thomas seems to care about is money. - Yes, but there's nothing we can do about it. The first major break in and then send a rookie cop who let the burglar get away. - Mom I want to throw a party for my transition and only invite other teens. - Okay. - That was to easy. - It is your transition day as well as Polly-Anna's, invite who you want Shanon and I will be happy to supervise. - Do you have to be here? - Yes, check mate. - Fine - Thomas did pretty well hosting his first party. - He did didn't he. His girlfriend was here and I quizzed her extensively. Turns out she's a 7th or 8th remove cousin. - What does that mean? - That there's enough genetic differences that it won't have a negative impact on their children. But his children might have to travel to find mates. Our island isn't in danger of becoming inbred yet, but we're getting close to that thresh hold. - Think the player will do anything about it? - Who knows. - I did it. I switched jobs today, just like we talked about doing once the kids were adults. - So now that you'll be cooking all the time does this mean no more fabulous meals at home? - I don't know, the diner is starting me out as a dishwasher. We own the place, I'm the best cook on the island who knows more recipe's than anyone else, and I'm stuck washing dishes. (laughs) - I stopped by city hall after dropping off produce at the grocery store. - Did you do it? - Yes, I registered as a busker. I also learned that the large plot behind us has been subdivided. - It has? - Yes, into 6 lots. The developer has two small houses up and available. - Two? - Yes, well only one on the market. - The other one ours? - Yes. - I'll call the movers, you let the kids know we're moving out. - So this is our new place. (Nods) Not very big but just right for the pair of us. Every once in a while while the twins where still toddlers Stevie would need to get out of the house. Shanon would stay home and tend the garden with an ear on the littles while Stevie would go for a jog, every time she rested she would pull out the cook book and read. In Shanon's opinion Stevie was just a bit obsessed when it came to cooking. Despite work hours the twins were well cared for and had plenty of activities to keep them entertained and educated. They both worked on their skills. Stevie tended to ignore the work related skills in favor of learning more cooking techniques. They took turns taking care of the twins, and chores, but Stevie wouldn't let Shanon anywhere near the stove. Shanon usually ate leftovers from breakfast for her midday break before going back out to work on the garden. She was really happy with how well her skill was developing, and was thrilled when she was finally able to plant some of the harder to grow plants. After much discussion the decision was made to have most of the concrete removed and a low water drought resistant grass sod was put down. Before they knew it it was time for the twins to transition. Stevie had to schedule the party later than planned due to unexpected overtime at work. Even though the twins were tired they were more than happy to stay up late for a slice of cake. Everyone who attended had a good time. On weekends Stevie would help water the garden. She instructed the twins to work on their skills. Stevie also let the twins know that Thomas was heir, because of his red hair. Polly-Anna didn't mind because it meant she was free to pursue her dream of becoming the best illustrated author ever. (guess who rolled their ltw early, lol) Thomas on the other hand didn't seem to have a clear goal for his future (I know otherwise ;) ) and frequently wandered around working on random skills or just getting underfoot. If underfoot he was told to go work out. When not out in the garden Stevie could be found reading cook books or watching cooking shows, which almost always resulted in a new dish for the next meal. It also resulted in a new refrigerator. Stevie suspected that Thomas might be insane since he would frequently argue with himself over odd little things, like whether or not to make the bed. Stevie and Shanon loved it whenever the twins slept in and they could have a quite morning together. Evenings the twins would work on their skills, while Stevie would read. Sometimes Shanon would watch programs on gardening. The twins wouldn't always wait for Stevie to cook a meal, especially when she insisted on waiting for a new stove to be delivered. Stevie and Shanon were happy that for the most part the twins got along well. Stevie got tired of scrubbing the tub, and upgraded it to self clean. When Stevie was at work and the twins were at school, Shanon enjoyed having the house to herself. The twins brought home friends almost everyday, and always did their homework without having to be told. "Thomas, do you know anything about your teachers missing desk lamp?" "mumble ... mumble ... mumble" Stevie could never find any evidence that Thomas was taking stuff and people who filed reports frequently called back a day or two later saying they'd found what ever had been missing in their mailbox. Shanon started hunting around the island for special seeds, explaining that she was sure she was missing a few plants. She also inspected the lot by the graveyard that she thought would make a good community garden. The day she mastered her gardening skill was the day city hall accepted her application to build a community garden on the island. Building a community garden is tricky. One thing I learned is that even if you own a community property you still can't plant on it. If sim will be planting the plants instead of using buydebug on a community lot the first steps are: make the lot residential in edit town mode, buy the lot, plant the plants you want planted, sell the lot back, go back to edit town mode to make the lot back to a community lot. It will also take several sim days for the plants to reach maturity from seed. (buydebug, would have been easier but now I have perfect plants anytime I want them. ;) ) For a community garden lot it will need to be zoned 'big park' (grumble, ea coding, grumble). Just as with the gym to reach one star you will need to meet a set of predetermined values: The built up value of the lot will be approximately what you paid for the lot (? untested theory, sim paid 12,000 for the lot; was expected to have a cash value of 12,000 built up). You will also need a minimum number of plumbing items, grill/picnic items (I placed extras which helped reach lot value faster.), after that it's up to you what to add to get the lot value up. When two of the special seeds yielded a death flower plant and a money tree Shanon was glad she'd put in the extra work. Stevie was convinced to take a break from learning new cooking techniques to celebrate the twins transition from child to teen. All Thomas would admit to after transitioning was that he liked working out, and chess wasn't to boring. Polly-Anna wanted to know if she could be a cat lady when she was older. Stevie shook her head, "sorry dear Pet's isn't installed on the players pc, you'll have to settle for bookworm." "Can you talk the city into building a library? That would be an awesome birthday gift." "That depends on your writing skill sweetie." "Hey mom isn't it your birthday too?" "What? Oh cr.. yeah it is." "Old lady" "I'll show you how not old I am" "ewwww gross grownups kissing, get a room" "Why I do believe we will" "Gross, moms ...." "Go to bed you two" "aww, no fun" "No fair it's the weekend, no school tomorrow, nyah" "C'mon, ignore them they're just being typical teens. Let's go find some privacy and you can show me just how not old you are, while the maids clean up the house since they're not tired." "Mmmm, I like your thinking." I stumbled on this while helping the twins clean using the 'hand of god' drag and drop. Toys from the toy box can be placed on the highchair. Gen 6 will help me test to see if toddlers will play with toys left on the tray. Life continued to be good for the Verde's. Shanon bought Stevie a bunch of recipe's as a belated birthday gift. Stevie was promoted to super spy at work right around the same time she maxed her cooking skills and convinced the council to allow a diner to be opened. The twins were continuing to do well in school, neither was all that interested in getting an after school job, and since money wasn't an issue they weren't pushed to. Sometimes Thomas would go to the gym after school, and sometimes Polly-Anna would go over to friends houses. "Thomas, what are you up to?" "Relax, I've checked the family tree she's not on it. See the hair isn't the same color." "You mean he's met a redhead who isn't a relative to some degree! Wow! Just Wow!" "I know ... I mean the player checked our degrees of separation 3 times before letting us hook-up and we were positive we were perfect for each other." "I think we need a new house rule no guests upstairs." "I don't think we need to worry it's not as if the player has woohooer or teen pregnancy options installed." "Still an ounce of prevention is a good idea." "Given Polly-Anna is also showing interest in dating, we'll just keep our fingers crossed that the player won't do anything untoward like install woohooer or enable teen pregnancy." Current overview of the island.
Also the glitches that had me worried have settled down, so hopefully there won't be a need to move the next generation away. Because I'm almost out of places for houses to go I've re-tuned story progressions immigration setting to 1. While Midori and Jamal are still around, they have completed the goals for generation 4 so I've shifted the primary focus to Stevie. On a whim Stevie decides to fix breakfast for the family. Sadly they came out burnt. At school Stevie signs up for cooking classes she is determined to become a good cook. Midori & Jamal are enjoying their retirement. They spend their days gardening, exercising, fishing, and just hanging out. Sometimes after school & work Stevie would join her parents at the fishing hole. When out Stevie tends to only talk to the older men ignoring her peers since she has no interest in kissing boys. After a few conversations with her parents, they relax regarding her choice because Stevie makes it clear she knows how to spot predatory behavior and avoids those men altogether. Stevie usually asks Liam Leslie to help her with her homework. She even has him in for consideration for once she's an adult but once she learns that he's interested in her Aunt Duri, Stevie crosses him off her potentials list. Feeling more confident about cooking after a few classes at school Stevie tries again to fix breakfast. Disaster! This time the stove catches fire. Hungry she grabs some leftovers from the fridge to eat before finishing her homework. For some odd reason the police department gave Stevie a formal gown to wear while working. Copying reports in triplicate can be stressful, especially if the copier jams and she has to do each one by hand, so Stevie frequently jogs the one block home. Most nights she arrives home to an empty house, her parents usually off at Jackie & Derrell's house playing with their grandson Alvin. If their not at Jackie's, then their at Mu & Roy's house helping Mu get ready for her first child. After work Stevie spends her evenings on homework. She has come to see homework as the bane of her existence and is looking forward to graduation. Late one afternoon as Stevie is jogging home from work a driver yells at her to get to the park asap. Arriving at the park Stevie finds her dad, whose rather spry for a 98 day old sim in distress. Looking around she doesn't see her mom (90 sim days old). She does however spy a large obelisk of a death marker. Stevie helps her dad move the marker to the graveyard, and then headed home to tidy up for the funeral services her dad wanted to hold, leaving her dad to mourn in private. That evenings funeral didn't go as expected. Stevie, and the rest of the family and friends invited, had expected to mourn Midori, Stevie's mom. What they had not expected was for Grim to show up and collect Jamal for the afterlife. The funeral became a double funeral, as Stevie made the rounds and both consoled and was consoled by attendees. Chance reassured Stevie that she would be allowed to live on her own so long as she kept her grades up at school. That she worked pt at the police station helped as it showed stability and provided her with a meager income. Stevie finally found her dad's death marker and with the help of a Jackie who wanted to get home to her kids, Alvin & Rosa, has the marker moved to the cemetery next to their mom's marker. While not a funeral activity Stevie gets Liam to help her with her homework. She learns that her Aunt Duri accepted Liam's proposal and they are now engaged. Stevie congratulates Liam. Stevie's first weekend alone she jogged down to the graveyard, mourned her parents, and then finished her homework. Afterwards she went home and made some changes to the house. She then moved her clothes to her parents room. As heir and head of house it was her room now. Once all of that once done she started work on her senior year essay. Stevie quickly discovered that she was suddenly the top of everyone's call list as she had at least one if not a dozen relatives calling her daily to check up on her. She supplemented her income with the occasional dumpster dive, as well as selling the more common fruits & veg from the garden. When she found items that she liked better than what she owned she kept them and sold off her old furnishings instead. She was happy when the station captain promoted her, and gave her a proper uniform to wear. By transition day she had advanced as far as she could for part time. Her days were blending together, and while it was tempting to use her transition day to skip out on the last day of school she didn't. Before heading off to work Stevie arranged for a transition party after work. Upon transitioning to young adult Stevie took one look at her new clothes and knew that they just wouldn't do. Towards the end of the party Stevie wanted to ask one of her picks for sperm donation his thoughts on the matter. She was sad to realize that Grim had shown up to collect him. The next day she went out and got three new everyday outfits, a new dress for formal occasions, and bottoms to match her swim top better. Stevie notified the station captain that she wanted to stay on as part time until after she had a couple of kids. She then went about the work of finding a suitable DNA donor, preferably someone who wasn't interested in a permanent partnership. After multiple trips to the fishing hole Stevie finally met Jamin Haines, after a long chat he was willing to go along with what she wanted. He did caution her that he wasn't sure how many kids he could give her as he was already 110 sim days old. Stevie appreciated his honesty and invited him to move in until either she had two kids or Grim came for him. It was nearly morning by the time they got Jamin settled in. Stevie changed into her sleep wear, and then fixed them breakfast. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't burnt, nor did she catch the house on fire, so she was happy with it. Stevie made sure that Jamin understood just how nervous she was about what needed to be done the old fashioned way since the island didn't have any medical centers on it. Jamin did his best to reassure her that he would be as gentle as possible. Afterwards they took a nap, and Stevie hoped once was all that was needed. Jamin learned that Stevie's mom had built the gym. He insisted the gym was part of why he had lived so long and sold his sports car to help bring the gym up to city code. Stevie started experiencing morning sickness. Not long after it was confirmed that she was expecting. As the cravings kicked in her desire to know as much as was possible about cooking kicked into overdrive. She also started hanging out around town more trying to meet someone like her. It was quickly obvious that most other women had already settled down, or were very closely related to her. When the bookstore had a sale on books she bought herself two more big cookbooks. When Stevie went into labor Jamin freaked out. How could he have 3 other kids already and get so freaked out over another, Stevie grumbled as she waddled to the nursery. First she delivered her daughter whom she named Polly-Anna, then she was hit with more contractions and delivered a son, Thomas. Stevie was quick to note Polly-Anna's dark eyebrows and fuzzy hair, while Thomas's was red. Over breakfast Jamin brought up that their agreement had been for two pregnancies, then left the table. Stevie talked to him and explained that even though she'd only been pregnant once she still had two children therefore the contract had been full filled. She also made it clear that he was welcome to stay until she did get married. Stevie contacted the police department and let them know she was ready to start working full time. She was promoted straight to Vice Squad, thanks to her part time work, and her older brother Chance was her new boss. One day Shanon McGrath showed up at the house. Shanon admitted that she had found Stevie attractive back in school but they never had any classes together, being about a year apart. Stevie & Shanon quickly figured out that despite their differences, Stevie athletic and Shanon a couch potato, they got along very well, as if they were meant for each other. Better yet was that despite being 5th cousins the council had no problems approving the marriage. Shanon's parents had no problem with letting Jamin have her old room to live in. Once there he found the break from children to be relaxing. They were married shortly after the twins transitioned from infant to toddler. They were both given time off from work for their honeymoon. Shanon quickly discovered that while she wasn't a nature enthusiast she loved working in the garden, and quit her day job to become a self proclaimed farmer. Stevie learned that being owner of a fully sanctioned gym was very profitable, and paid more than the partnerships with the stores. Which made her feel very confident about the funding that would be needed to bring a diner and community garden to the island. Together they worked on teaching the twins their skills. After a good sales day at the market Shanon bought a bunch of toddler skill books for the twins. From around the town & family tree:
Chance finally started dating, and was last seen going steady with an elderly woman named Angela. He's a loner so might not have kids. He didn't start dating until right around when the twins transitioned to toddler. Jackie McCrary-Verde is now a widow and single mom to Alvin, Rosa, and Quinn. Mu was widowed while daughter Shanda was in elementary school. Much to the surprise of everyone she married Jamin a few days after he moved in with Shanon's parents, their last name is now Verde-Haines. If she ends up having any simlets with Jammin, who is now approaching 120 sim days of age, those children will be half siblings to Stevie's children. O_O The Mu & Jamal hook up was all nraas story progression's doing. O_O Final note, the town is starting to get extremely full & glitchy, while gen 6 does not have a change of scenery role I might still end up relocating gen 6 plus urns of direct ancestors to a new island/town. Everything in bold green font has been added.
Bold italics means I need to have the family re-buy the lot, after my goof when I moved gen 4. For science since I goofed it up, a future generation will have to redo the science career. This list is an excerpt from The "Nothing Is Free" Challenge post at MTS and only has base game lots. It should be noted that neither this list nor the full list linked has a community garden on it, because the gardens found in Riverview or other ea towns are generally listed as small park or some other option, it's the same for children's play parks. I also learned that the lot requirements when building in s4 also exist in s3, but because I had never previously had a sim buy the lot and build it up I had not seen the buy & build requirements. Yes they bug me in 3 as much as 4. Community Lots - Each one has some sort of requirement: - Base Game Rabbitholes: Criminal Warehouse - Maxed Athletics and Logic, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($50,000) Bistro - Maxed Cooking, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($37,500) Bookstore - Maxed Writing, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($27,000) Day Spa - Buy (not partner) the rabbithole (no skill requirement). ($50,000) Diner - Maxed Cooking, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($24,000) Grocery Store - Maxed Gardening and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($27,000) Hospital - Maxed Logic, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($105,000) Office Building - Maxed Charisma and Writing, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. ($58,000) Science Lab - Maxed Gardening, Handiness, and Fishing, and buy (not partner) the rabbithole. Military Base - Maxed Handiness and Athletics (no money requirement). Can't be owned*. Police Department - Maxed Logic, Athletics, and Painting (no money requirement). Can't be owned*. - Base Game Other Lots: Lot values vary by size & each lot will have a build up value to get a star rating Art Gallery - Maxed Painting, and must purchase the lot. Beach - Maxed Athletics or Scuba Diving, and must purchase the lot. Big Park - Maxed Logic and Gardening, and must purchase the lot. Fishing Spot - Maxed Fishing, and must purchase the lot. Gym - Maxed Athletics, and must purchase the lot. (Lot value once built up must be 70,000 or more to earn a star & income.) Library - Maxed Writing, and must purchase the lot. Pool - Maxed Athletics, and must purchase the lot. Small Park - Maxed Gardening (no money requirement). Visitors Allowed - No requirements, see Rule #5. No Visitors Allowed - No requirements, see Rule #5. - Rule 5 5. You may not abuse lots you don't have to buy by putting fancy skilling or mood boosting objects there so that your Sims don't have to buy them at home are not. Landscaping, tables and benches, that sort of thing is fine. Hot Tubs and grand pianos are not. Rabbithole lots should mainly be the rabbithole and landscaping. "Visitors Allowed" and "No Visitors Allowed" lots should be used sparingly and only for places without much in them (a lot that's merely a fancy pedestrian walkway or a subway station would be good examples). Small parks should be just that - if you can fish there then it's a fishing spot, and if it has skilling objects like chess tables it's a big park. The only non-decorative objects in Salons and Junkyards besides what you're there for (stylist and tattoo stations for the former, scrap piles and junk in the latter) is maybe a bathroom. Fire Stations need to be more fully outfitted to keep everyone working there happy, but I think you get the picture: be reasonable. * city hall, the military base, and school might be own-able but so far I haven't seen a cost for those lots. Ps, at roughly 2 +/- lots per generation there will be up to 8 or 9 generations to go after generation 5. Generation 5 Roll
Stevie Verde; athletic, brave, natural born cook, virtuoso, genius Marital Status: Couple Your sim must obtain a spouse or partner to live with them in the household. The spouse or partner does not technically have to be the father/mother of the children, but they must be present in the household. Number of Children: 2 Children Your generation is only allowed to have 2 children. Note that exceeding this number by having accidental twins or triplets is fine, but you must not have any more children after that. Primary Career: Law Enforcement (Super Spy) Secondary Career: Farmer/Nectar MakerGrow and sell your own produce or your bottles of nectar. You'll have to choose between these two options when you register at city hall, since they are two different self-employed careers! However, you may register as either, and do both. Also, if you have the Supernatural expansion pack, your farmer/nectar maker sim may sell honey and wax from their own bee hives. Also in the Supernatural EP, your farmer Sim may compete in the daily gardening competition held at the fairy arboretum rabbithole. NOTE: the heir may take over the family's existing garden, if a garden does exist, but may only sell produce they harvest themselves. NOTE: Nectar making is exclusive to World Adventures. Generational Goal: Hobby, or Obsession? Pick a "Hobby" for your Sim, based on their traits, or on their character as you see them. The poll is now officially closed the final votes are as follows Diner 47.37% (9 votes) Community Garden 31.58% (6 votes) Big Park 10.53% (2 votes) Theater 10.52% (2 votes) Total Votes: 19 There are 4 possible lots that would work well for generation 5 to add to the island, but only two can added. You can take the poll at Wordpress or drop a comment on your choices here. A big park would build up the currently empty lot that currently everyone just hangs out on and tosses around balls or reads a book. Requires maxed Logic and Gardening. Community garden would take the pressure off of maintaining a home garden for fresh produce. Only requires maxed gardening. Diner, it would be nice for sims to have someplace to eat out once in awhile. Requires maxed cooking skill Theater, like the diner it would give sims another place to go. Requires maxed guitar and logic skills. This poll will stay open longer than the heir choice one, as there is much more time before a final choice has to be made. Okay it's been a bit since my last update, primarily because I haven't been playing sims. I've been playing Banished trying to complete the "One with Nature - Reach 400 citizens without building crops fields, orchards, or pastures." accomplishment before I build the trading post. After much testing I've reached the conclusion that the current year the town is in is just a bad foraging year, and that since I've already completed the "Uneducated - Reach a population of 300 citizens without building schools." & "Isolationist - Reach 300 citizens without building a trading post." achievements I have two choices; 1) suck it up and loose 1/3 to 1/2 of the towns population, or 2) start a new town but with schools from the start. I'll probably go with option 1 as I really like the valley map the town is on, and if possible I want to clear as many achievements with 1 town rather than a new town for each achievement. I also took some time off to play with s4's version of plantsims, my final take away regarding the plantsim - Meh!; but the tree is cool because you can visit daily and bring out 4 or so collectibles of assorted variety. Another factor that's going to impact postings I'm going to try my hand at selling jewelry that I make. Fingers crossed that it goes well, because an income again of my own no matter how small would be nice. Now for sims 3 & The Verde's. :) Thank you to those of you who took the time to comment on my very short & informal heir poll. Life has been busy for the Verde's. Chance was thrilled to learn that he didn't have to be heir unless he really wanted to be, he said he'd rather be a hermit in the wilderness but since that wasn't an option he'd stick around long enough to help his mom get the land for the studio and then he was getting a studio so he could be alone. Jackie and Mu were also glad to be off the hook as they had their own ideas of what they wanted out of life. With the heir situation resolved everyone concentrated on making sure that Stevie would grow up with as many skills in place as possible. Everyone took turns helping Stevie learn how to use the potty chair but it was Zach who was helping her when she finally fully understood the concept. Given the length of her maternity leave Midori spent a good amount of time teaching Stevie how to talk. Midori also spent a lot of time with her garden since it provided a decent income. The siblings enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere, and frequently hung out together discussing their plans for the future. Chance was still determined to live alone in a small home for one, while Jackie and Mu agreed that it made sense for them to share a home together at first to cut down expenses. Jamal was determined that he would be the one to teach Stevie how to walk. While Mu decided to help her mom teach Stevie how to talk. In no time at all Stevie had all her basic skills down and was allowed to play with other stuff. Jamal had a lot of 'dad' chats with Jackie and Mu, sounding out their ideas and telling lame jokes. Jamal got a request from their neighbor for some quality fresh produce. Stevie was content playing both by herself or with an adult. With the children well in hand Midori made sure that Zach took plenty of time off away from the house. Most of the time he would play guitar at the park but once in awhile he would go play at the graveyard instead. The same day Midori finally had enough simoleans to buy land for the gym and to start building on it she also transitioned to elder. For reasons only he new Chance stayed on a few days longer, which gave him time to have some 'dad' chats with Jamal. Midori was surprised to learn that the city had very specific ideas of what constituted a gym and that until her property was up to their standards she wouldn't earn any income from the property. Midori grumbled that had she known she might have waited until she had the full 140,000 simoleans to invest, but even just what she had invested so far was helping people improve their health so she didn't mind as much. Before they knew it Stevie's transition day was on them. While Stevie was chowing down her cake Chance announced that he was moving out. His new home, without windows by his choice, was just a few blocks away, and while he would prefer total solitude family was welcome to drop by anytime they wanted. Stevie's first day of school she got invited home to the neighbors house. Jackie decided to hide in the bathroom for her transition day, Stevie still wished her a happy birthday. Jamal and Midori both continued to work, determined to show the next generation how things were done, even though they were both eligible to retire. Sometimes after work Midori would pop over and visit Chance. Jamal saw him everyday at work so didn't feel the need to go visit. Midori continued to invest in the gym. She and Jamal also continued to demonstrate to each other that just because they were older the spark wasn't gone. (Seriously these to do almost as much spontaneous flirting as Louise & Frodo Behrooz did.) After a few promotions Midori finally had enough money to install a proper pool area and start to work on the main building of the gym. Midori toyed with the idea of staying on at work a little longer once she reached the top level at work, but decided that she'd rather enjoy what was left of her elder day's with Jamal seeing as they'd recently been touted as the golden example of a good marriage in the local paper due to how long they'd been married. Then it was Mu's turn to transition. Zach sniffled and said he'd miss the sisters when they moved out. Jackie & Mu reassured him they weren't leaving just yet. Neither sister moved on from their part time jobs. For Jackie it was the lack of a local sports team that had her focusing on learning recipes instead of trying to pursue a regular career. Mu flat out admitted she didn't really want to work and was hoping to marry someone rich. It saddened Midori to realize that they had raised a gold digger but nothing could be done about it. A few days later Jamal celebrated reaching the peak of his career and also retired. Midori already new the property the girls planned to move to and bought it from the city, added a small garden of perfect plants and then sold it back. Transition day finally rolled around for Stevie, being the little genius that she is she insisted on doing her homework before celebrating her transition. Even though Stevie was tired and wanted a bath she made her goodbye's to Zach. He was moving with her older sisters to the new house one block away. After a bite of cake Jamal went over to visit with Zach. Zach explained it was what he wanted, to see the sisters settled in before he faded which he knew was imminent. Later that evening as Midori, Jamal, and Stevie were adjusting to how quite the house was with everyone gone they got a call from Jackie, Zach had faded in his sleep and had left his guitar to Stevie since she loved music even more than he had. Midori made a visit to her daughters a few days later to see how they were doing, and collect the guitar for Stevie. She told Jackie that she wasn't to impressed with how thrown together the houses floor plan was. Jackie said they didn't mind because they didn't actually plan on staying in forever, and actually had plans to move in with whomever they eventually married. Midori held her tongue even though she wanted to remind her daughters that good family homes were in short supply on the island. Midori was happy when she was finally able to get the main gym building finished. For now it would be just a one story building but if she needed to she could add a second floor to the building later. Even though the gym didn't meet city halls requirements the island residents loved the gym, and it stayed busy. Midori and Jamal continued to encourage Stevie to develop her skills. When Stevie said she wanted to join the ROTC, they let her even though Midori was concerned that the military might not be the right fit for their daughter. After one weekend of ROTC Stevie decided that just maybe her parents had been right the military life just wasn't for her. Each day she left so stressed that it took several hours of working out to unwind. Once she was relaxed she would get a cousin to be a study buddy and do homework with them. Stevie learned fast that pretty much everyone on the island with red hair was a cousin to some degree whether 1st cousin or cousin at 5th remove. She wasn't sure if that would make finding a life partner easier or harder in the long run. She hoped she could find someone who enjoyed gardening, because she didn't, but she didn't want to let her mom's perfect garden die out either. Stevie decided that working out at the gym was decidedly preferable as her parents tended to get all mushy & romantic at odd times, usually obstructing her view of the exercise video she was using. To get her mind off her parents being old and gross she would grab her guitar and play at the park. Even as Stevie knew that her formal career would be tied to her athleticism & logic skills, she also knew that playing guitar would be her hobby and obsession. When Chance and another officer came to the school and talked about the observation & ride along program that the police had for teens Stevie was the first to sign up. Even though she didn't need it she frequently asked her parents for help with her homework as it gave them time to talk while she worked. Stevie promised her mom, Midori, that even if Midori passed before the gym fully met city hall requirements that she, Stevie, would see that the building was finished to code. Which apparently was done to a large screen tv and some wall mirrors, along with a few changes to the exterior finish. If you haven't guessed yet, the next post will start generation 5 in full. As of last save Jamal was at 91 sim days of age and Midori is only about 5 or 6 sim days behind him.
Stevie, the heir, will be taking over from here out. Outside of about 11,000 simoleans worth of improvements on the gym generation 4 has pretty much completed all of the goals assigned them. Let me just say that the "hands off" goal was a real challenge, I caught myself so many times starting to do the 'hand of god' to move items around. The exception I made was moving produce to the fridge since I couldn't find an option to have sims put away freshly harvested produce. It also meant I couldn't just set out toddler books for Stevie to read as a baby. Midori continued to supplement the family's income from the small garden plot. Even though Chance is very much a loner, he still spends time playing with Mu and helping her learn to walk. Jamal takes advantage of the extra time to chat with Jackie. Finished working outside Midori turns on the boosted tv set and watches the gardening channel, which helps her master the skill and complete her ltw of Renaissance sim. Eventually Chance and Jackie join her. (Note: Small blooper in 4-3 post. Zach didn't max his artistic skill - yet, he did however have a midlife crisis which allowed him to channel his kleptomaniac urges in a positive direction and he now has the neat trait instead of klepto. No other traits were adjusted.) Zach did finally max his artistic skill, which made him very happy. Mu wasn't quite sleepy yet so Jamal staid up reading while she ate & played. Chance really wanted a job so his parents signed his work permit. Even though Midori was happy to be going back to work she still took time to check in on Mu before leaving. The day went by quickly for the family. Midori was excited that she'd received another promotion on her first day back to work. Jamal received a call requesting he help a gentleman from the business office see the benefits of logical choices that seem counter the needs of businesses. Jamal did such a good job he was granted a certificate for Logic Mastery. After a brief presentation to city council, the city received a pro bono build from Dragon Construction for the creation of a proper police station. New housing was also wanted but the contract negotiations on those took a little longer. Jamal got a job right away at the newly constructed station. The week progressed nicely. One day both Jamal and Midori came home excited about promotions they had received. While they were 'celebrating' Mu's birthday snuck past them and she transitioned from toddler to child. Midori ordered a sprinkler she'd seen on the garden channel and adjusted it to automatically water the garden in the mornings for her. Mu just loves to play in the sprinkler after she finishes her homework. Zach gets invited on a date. He's rather ambivalent about it and plays guitar for tips instead of hanging out with his date. Jamal has a different problem, his undercover clothes from work turned him invisible. Happily a quick wash takes car of the problem. Friday rolls around and Midori wants to celebrate yet another promotion, she falls asleep right after, but Jamal wanders downstairs just in time for Jackie's birthday transition to teen. Saturday Jackie and Chance head out for the park. They're sad that the only thing to do at the park is stand around and talk. Midori wakes up at odds with herself, her stomach is upset yet she's craving cheesy foods. (Every pregnancy craving save one with simlet 4 was macaroni & cheese or grilled cheese. O_O ) Mu is happy she is allowed to go fishing on her own, even though she's clumsy she loves the outdoors. Midori gets tired of hearing the protestors chant so she goes inside to watch cooking shows. Before Midori knows it, it's time to deliver her final child. Waddling into the house she wishes Jamal were home but he's out getting statements from people at the park. After a fair amount of time she finally delivers a little girl whom they are naming Stevie. After getting Stevie settled into her crib, Midori heads down to the kitchen to help Zach celebrate his transition to elder. Zach let's Midori know that he's not up to the challenge of infant care anymore. Midori doesn't mind her gardening time is reduced greatly by the automatic sprinkler she installed. Sometimes Jamal grumbles that he hardly ever sees his youngest daughter. Before they know it a whole bunch of birthdays have snuck up on them. One evening before everyone heads off to bed they pause to celebrate the transitions. First Jamal transitions to elder, he wants to retire but he also wants to help Midori build a community gym and at 50 thousand their getting very close to that goal. Next up is Mu, her childhood sped right past everyone and now she's entering her teen years. Last to celebrate is Chance he's finally a full adult. He's decided to enter law enforcement too, and he's sure he can keep his kleptomania under control. The following morning just before the car pool and bus arrives Midori calls everyone around to help celebrate Stevie's transition from infant to toddler. Stevie needs a nap early today and falls asleep on the kitchen floor. Stevie also inherited her moms red hair, but where did those blue-green eyes come from? Midori tells Chance that the role of heir is still undecided, and that it's going to be left to some people called 'simmers' to help the journalist decide who will be heir. Heir vote on the forums. |
