No elders have had anything happen to them yet. However since as covered in the previous post Daphne is no longer working it is time to shift the full focus forward onto generation 3. Farran came home Friday bummed, he was eligible for a promotion but the upper generals had passed him by. Spotting his boss, Farran waved him down for a chat. They cut it awfully close to curfew, but Farran was happy he had his promotion and would start the next level up on Monday. Upon learning her brother luck at receiving a promotion Liadan decided to try her luck as well. When her boss spoke to her from the ground she knew she was out of luck and talked him into going to the park before saying goodbye (leaving the group). It took Adaeze some time, but she finally finished Darian's portrait and hung it on the wall. Darian continued to practice his guitar skill instead of socializing. He knew that as a guy he had a little more time for getting a mate, that is once he had council approval. While a mate would be good for the long run, so would a steady battery supply as well as actual music to play. He hoped that being a rock star would make him more attractive when the time came. No one said anything when Farran pulled the walls down blocking the pool access to fix the basement shower and make a small room for food storage.

This is not the final post for gen 2 that I was looking for. Game mechanics - I see you're trying to get an elder to clear a career here let me fix that for you. Game glitches elder drowns stuck in floor. (previous posts pics) Me - Ha, I can pop back 1 save, my elder is safe and fine, sure I lose 5 points but I'm playing for fun anyway. Adds both walls and fence to block pool. Game mechanics - Guess what! I fixed your elder going to work for you, and while I was at it I fixed the other elder too. Me - takes down wall and fence around pool ... Measures were taken to ensure that no one could accidentally die in the pool. Adaeze took care of getting the food out of the fridge, and then left it for Daphne to cook. While at the business office Adaze got drafted to go work at City Hall in the politics field. Since it was a straight trade off on job levels she was more than happy to switch, after all just maybe a larger dining room or bedroom in the future would be nice. Daphne headed off to work just fine, sadly when I went to check on her almost a sim hour later she was sitting outside missing work. Career over! So much to my regrets, culinary is not getting cleared by generation 2. It would have been a very nice clear, but the game mechanics (nor my attention) were not in favor of such a clear. Same day Donte got sidetracked on the home lot and also had to leave his job so for gen 2 the only one still working is Ted. What went wrong the second time? There is a very distinct probability that this guy spooked her when she arrived at the diner, and had I been watching her instead of keeping an eye on the gen 3 sims, it wouldn't have been an issue because I knew a way to get her into work. He hangs out all over town, not sure if he's got any siblings. His presence as a ghost townie is completely my fault. I wasn't really paying attention to which files I was grabbing from some of the older households I'd made in the past and I added the West family. Sims & households play in base just fine from other ep/sp's they just loose content tags and wander around in default hair & clothes. Although it is recommended to take each sim into cas first and make sure there are no odd code glitches like with Donte's hair. ;) So a word to the wise, unless you're attempting the playable ghost occult Do Not seed your town with playable ghosts for an apocalypse challenge. lol
Unless of course, you don't mind the added challenge. ;) There will be one more gen 2 post after this one before gen 3 gets to take over in full. Everyone quickly settled into the new routine. Daphne stayed in charge of the cooking, she could have allowed Farran to learn but she new that she needed all of the practice she could get for work. Sometimes she would view the still life of herself and their mother. Really wished I'd gotten more skill books than I had at the start. Donte finished one of his paintings and hung it on the first level. Ted doesn't like art, but tolerates it, barely, for the rest of the family. Ted finally figured out how to paint a proper portrait and started on one of Daphne Donte got so caught up in working on Daphne's portrait that he lost track of time. (So did I.) He was startled when his comm unit chimed, he had missed a game and was fired. He didn't care, he'd already mastered the athletics career. HE would of course get a new job assignment to help with the family income. Before long it was Liadan's turn to become a teen. Donte finally finished the portrait. The lower level was still being added on to. Daphne still refused to let anyone take over the cooking. Ted arrived home in time to see the bus driver accidentally drop off extra children. He sent them home. He then read some of his coworkers notes on what had and hadn't worked. On the third floor the chess table got moved to make room for a new - used love seat. Daphne's portrait once finished got hung over the chess table. Everyone took turns using the tread mill that Donte got used from the stadium. Most evenings were spent on the upper floor. Eventually Darian also transitioned to teen. Being the only candidate for heir puts a lot of pressure on young shoulders. Being inappropriate means Darian doesn't mind washing up in the sink, making him the only one in the house, who despite being a slob, stays clean all the time. Everyone tried to remember to make calls on comm's days but sometimes time got lost track of in the quest of improved skills for a better future. Donte was assigned the science center, and while he didn't care one way or another about the future of that career, he humored his bosses and read a little bit on gardening. Ted worked on his chess but knew the day was coming where he would need to focus on his athletic skills instead. He wasn't worried though, he was a rising star in the medical field and was determined to achieve his ltw of becoming a world renowned surgeon. Daphne's cooking skills continued to improve & impress, she often wished for more complex recipes to fix so she could push her skills farther faster, or books to read beyond the occasional recipe by her boss. The children had decided amongst themselves that Adaeze would be the one to learn enough painting skill to paint Darian's portrait when the time came. Donte still wouldn't explain why he was continuing to expand a level lower than the one he slept on. One day Daphne cleaned all of the ancient stored food from the basements, as the last dish was washed a fleeting sense of doom filtered by. My bad, I really should have kept that space unconnected until gen 4 or 5. Ted insisted on rearranging the bedroom on the second floor. The children wondered why he'd bothered to wall off a section over the course of several days. Finally it was Adaeze's turn to become a teen. While she joined her siblings with the more advanced skill learning. One day Ted came home and had a shower installed. He had achieved his ltw and was now a world renowned surgeon. The next day he brought home a toilet for the second floor. Everyone was happy with the new toilet. Ted asked Donte to help him train on the treadmill. Donte had a pool built in the lowest basement. Daphne shivered in fear. Donte got requested by the medical team to join the hospital staff, so he did, as they respected his knowledge more than the science center and moved him to a mid level position right off the bat. Time flew by and Farran became a young adult. He was assigned to the military compound, he wondered how well that would work out given he was a coward. Donte felt a shiver of fear, he would become an elder soon. He was unlucky and wondered how long he would live. Daphne continued to rise at work, although keeping up her cooking skill and her relationships with her boss & coworkers was becoming a struggle for her. Her upcoming transition to elder was the furthest thing from her mind. Even though he hadn't been looking forward to it, Donte enjoyed his transition. Nor did he have any complaint when Ted transfered the old plumbing to the lower level so they could have nicer furnishings upstairs. Life was moving forward and with Daphne's help Ted finally mastered the athletic skill. Then it was Liadan's turn to transition to young adult. She was assigned a job with the newspaper. Despite her apprehension Daphne decided to swim in the small pool. As fun and relaxing as it was she couldn't shake her fear of it, and even fought with Donte about having it on the property. He promised to wall it off, but being a senile elder forgot his promise. Then came the day that Daphne had both looked forward to and dreaded. Darian became a young adult and was assigned to work for the music industry. No sooner than Darian was done transitioning it was her turn to become an elder. As the youngest, the task of cooking the days rations fell to Adaeze, and everyone started to wish they had more than a few extra rations stashed away. Darian went as instructed to the park to begin making friends, so that he could get the communities blessing on his role as heir. The park was the also the only place where he could hang with his boss (blue hair, most likely descended from the blue male in this household). On his third day at work after receiving his first promotion, Darian was finally granted a precious guitar to take home and practice on. Even though he wasn't very good everyone enjoyed the music as they'd been unable to get new batteries for the radio. Daphne was thrilled when she earned another promotion, she was one away from the top of her field, the only downside was that she now only worked three days a week and no one trusted her to cook food for the family. Then it was Ted's turn to become an elder. A few day's later it was Adaeze's turn, in an insane neurotic conversation she asked Darian why he didn't just take over. He said that it was important to give their mom a chance to finish her goals, and he was still working on his connections with the community. The following morning she received her job placement with the business office. One evening Daphne put on her work clothes by mistake, she then rambled on about a bad dream she'd had. the siblings listened and realized that their uncle still hadn't blocked off the pool. They agreed to fence it off right away before someone actually did get hurt like their mom's nightmare. I almost cried when I realized that it was Daphne drowning and that she had somehow gotten stuck in the floor outside of the pools area. Because being stuck in the floor is a glitch had I caught it soon enough, aka been paying attention to my elders instead of ignoring them, I could have fixed the problem without taking any point hits.
It happened the day before her next day of work, to make it worse the next morning when I tried to have Darian cook the family a meal, Ted got to the fridge first and pulled out a soup ration and there was no spare spoiled food anywhere on the lot for anyone else to eat which meant that there was a chance Farran would die of starvation. Everything was rapidly going south in a hand basket on my game, and all because Daphne had faded. I'm taking the point hit because I played an additional 12 hours past her death, and I'm not sure where the previous save will start at. The pool will be walled off next time I load the game. I may even delete it over the course of a few sim days. Ted settled into the family quickly. Daphne made it clear that she wanted to have four children before taking her job assignment. Ted did the only thing a wise sim could do, and agreed. Daphne continued to workout and do all of the cooking. Ted would sometimes practice chess at the park, where he would see their mutual cousin with his simlet. Donte continued to climb the ladder in the sports world leading the team to victory with each game they played. When Daphne's due date arrived she wasn't impressed that her medically trained husband flipped out. Welcome Farran. Daphne was quick to get the ball rolling for her second child, Ted had no objections. Although they both felt uncomfortable when Grey's spirit decided to watch them. Daphne soon felt the discomforts of pregnancy, two more after this she reminded herself as she watched her mornings rations swirl down the toilet. Donte & Daphne maxed their fitness potential, and grudgingly expanded their free time into other areas. For Donte that meant working on a basement room to sleep in away from screaming babies. As always they tried to keep up with friends on comm's days. Daphne had convinced Ted to work out once, while he didn't mind it, he found that he liked jogging better. Welcome Liadan, your father still doesn't seem to handle labor well. Liadan was born the same day Farran became a tot. Life continued on. Ted came home with a promotion and Daphne knew exactly how she wanted to celebrate. Even though he now slept far away from his nephew and niece, Donte still actively helped with their care, for which both Daphne and Ted were grateful. Before long it was time for Daphne to welcome their 3rd simlet, another boy whom she named Darian. Okay so with gen 3 I may have gone with a theme of sorts for the first 3 simlets. Although I miss spelled Dorian as Darian so there is that ... I stopped the theme with the 4th because I didn't want to repeat the founders name. Darian's birth wasn't the only event happening. Farran transitioned from tot to child while Daphne was in labor. Life continued to move forward, Daphne was feeling the march of time and chaffed against being stuck home. The progress of time hit home hardest when Donte transitioned to full adult, Daphne knew she wasn't far behind. Donte and Ted continued to earn promotions. Darian became a tot, and Liadan became a child. Farran & Liadan enjoyed meeting other children at school. Then the final simlet due date rolled around, and Daphne was happy, because Farran would soon be a teen and she could finally join the work force. Welcome Adaeze, your poor father is exhausted, he's been on call and worked several double shifts in a row. Daphne wondered if her cooking skills would play a part in her job assignment. Donte worked on his painting skill, they had the still life of their mom, that she had done, but it would be nice if he could paint a proper portrait of Daphne, and maybe of her heir. The family settled into a routine of work, skilling, eat, sleep. Soon it was Darian's turn to transition. He shared the day with his mom's transition to adult. The next day Adaeze became a tot. Ted was so exhausted that on the day of his transition to adult he collapsed outside of the hospital. He looked forward to his next promotion, when he would become a gene slicer and back on a reasonable day shift where he could once again jog home from work. While slobs normally wouldn't be preferred, Daphne was glad that both Liadan and Darian seemed to have cast iron stomachs and didn't mind eating the older rations. Donte finally became skilled enough to paint a still life of his sister, but his ambitious streak wasn't happy. He however agreed that the children needed to get their turn to improve their skills as well. Donte has also been working on a third basement area but he won't say what it's for. Daphne wasn't happy when the new bus driver accidentally dropped of one their cousins with the kids after their day at school. While Farran wasn't thrilled about having to stay home as a teen he was glad that he could finally do more than 3 activities to improve on his life skills. Finally the day Daphne had been waiting for arrived and she happily checked in for her job assignment. Dishwasher aka Kitchen Scullion, Daphne was happy, except for the fact that she had to wait an extra day to start work because the place was closed for the day. Two key events. Donte reached level 10 of the sports career, cleared Athletic. Darian is the only one of the gen 3 simlets who has an obvious genetic connection to the founder and is therefore named heir. He will of course have to work hard to prove his worth to the town when the time comes. I was nervous as Donte fixed the processor, and then someone reminded me that the unlucky trait is near impossible to kill off. Doh! So Donte gets to be the electrician for this generation. Donte & Daphne trade off between working out and writing. Doni made it to 95 days and no more, I was expecting Grey to go first but that wasn't the case. They try to keep a stiff upper lip, but it's hard to constantly hide their grief at Doni's fading. Part of hiding grief means putting noses even harder to the grindstone to learn their skills and try to become as fit as possible. They also need to earn money for the bills that come twice a week. Donte is concerned about his mom's age, they know that she is at least 2 days older than their dad, but doesn't show any signs of slowing down. On com's day the talk to their friends from elementary school. Daphne feels that despite her hot temper she's a better candidate for heir as she already has one good friend, and gets along with other sims better than her brother. She suspects that her good trait has something to do with that. With a ladder to the roof they sometimes climb up to enjoy the view of the community. Late one night they decide to move the dining table upstairs. Just after a late diner Donte transitions to young adult. Even though Grey claims she isn't Donte is pretty sure that she's laughing at his ponytail, which he doesn't get because his dad had the same hair style. The next morning Donte rejoices in his freedom to travel within the network, but first things first he has to find out his assigned job. Athletics, he can work that, personally he just wants to live in the lap of luxury. Daphne doesn't complain, because she knows her turn is coming in a few days. It's also com's day, so she can chat on the phone. Donte spends the day meeting and greeting as many sims as he can. He doesn't socialize well, so in some ways he doesn't mind that he won't be the heir. Late that night, Daphne feels a disturbance and rushes downstairs just in time to see their mom fade. Grey had a complex aging pattern, she faded at roughly 107 ? 108 days of age, after her age reset itself back to 100 sim days. As Daphne stiffles her tears she wonders if it's to soon to take over the double bed. Despite his grief Donte does well for himself at work. Before they know it it's Daphne's turn to transition to young adult, Donte is a little shocked to learn that she doesn't plan to start working until after she's born a few children. She like Donte would love to live in luxury. Daphne takes over the big bed at night, while she spends her days meeting, greeting, and making good friends. Before she knows it she's received permission to take a mate. Now comes the potentially hard part, finding an unmarried compatible zodiac sign, to her Sagittarius sign. One of her extra good friends is compatible, but he's already contracted with someone else. While not adverse to poaching she leaves that as a last option. Then the agency sends over a guy in pink scrubs ... His color is very green and when asked he explains he descended from both the Clover family and the Spicetree family. While they share a cousin in common, from her dad's side of the family they aren't related by blood. He's a few days younger than her, and is determined to stay in the medical field if he can. Daphne is just glad he's not in an iron tight marriage contract, and invites him to spend the night. She's able to nudge the evening in the direction she wants, and is pleased the following morning when he agrees to enter into a permanent contract with her. By the next morning her status a bearer of the 3rd generation is very clear to all. Donte, is pleased too. He's rapidly climbing the ladder at work and has already made it to rookie status. Almost forgot, both Donte & Daphne were gifted the ambitious trait by game mechanics when they transitioned from teen to young adult.
Before I delve into game play events. I want to preface with a caution. I'm running into continuous glitches with my current family. I think they are tied to the fact that many of my townies are sims I had built on my old pc, which had everything installed on it. If the glitches persist, then I'll scrap the save altogether and start over (same founder). I'm hoping that with save cleaner & at least the intro of gen 3, several days of play away ;) , that the glitches will self correct. Doni stayed lucid just long enough to quit his job. After that everything rested on Donte's shoulders. Keeping two elders in line, fed, and a toddler looked after is a lot for a child to bear the brunt of. Especially a child who like his father has an unlucky trait. Every day before school, Donte sets out a bowl of soup for his parents, while he eats stale molded hot dogs. Sometimes Grey eat's it, other morning's Doni eats it first. Another part of the daily routine is working out. (Which doesn't really seem to give the kids a boost when they become teens.) By the time bill day rolled back around the word processor was broken, and Donte had to sell a couple of windows, which meant nothing was added to the house. Happily Grey is still receiving royalty payments so that money was used to replace the word processor. Finally it's Daphne's turn to become a child. Donte has a few more days before his next transition. While he tries to make the most of them, he manages to break the brand new word processor. He's going to have to sell more windows and probably the fireplace, but he'll have to pick carefully as the family doesn't have an in with the mob or the black market, which means he can only sell two items. A class mate follows them home and with no sane adults to send them home Donte & Daphne do the only thing they can do, pull the lower ladders up until their classmate goes home. With the word processor broken it's back to working out every day after school, except for com's day. Donte is happy when his transition day rolls around. I think if he get's coded with the wrong hair again I'm going to default to Daphne as heir. They both inherited their mom's hair color so I can make it work. To make matters worse, when I took Donte into cas to fix his hair right after his transition, he lost 4 days of age, which meant adjusting teen age for the entire town. Daphne is really looking like the better choice for heir, plus she has nicer traits. Again I'm hoping that save cleaner will help straighten out the glitch. I'll find out when Donte transitions to YA. With Donte now a teen he can finally start grilling food for the family, maybe. Day 1 Grey pulled some odd thing out of the fridge before Donte could get their rations out, moldy food for all. Day 2 Donte got up extra early and burned the hot dogs. Day 3, hey good job Donte those are nice looking rations you've made for the family. To bad the batteries died on the radio, guess you'll need a new one. Day 4, sigh, Donte please don't burn down the house. Now you need a new grill, but maybe it's better if you can't cook. Donte you get the radio fixed and then bust the word processor again. I don't know what I'm going to do with you ... but I do know this you've got almost a week until the next transition and no income source. Again! I think we're going to let Daphne take over cooking and writing, that is once things are fixed or replaced, and yes Donte I'm really considering letting you attempt to fix the processor even though you have no handiness skills, nor will I lament should you crisp yourself out of digital existence. Especially now that's she's transitioned to teen. This is the final post for the founding generation. I had Doni jogging to and from work everyday, if his career had been one with on the job workout I would have had him do that as well. On Grey's last day as an adult I took her across to the neighbors after Doni was home, just long enough to get rid of the stir crazy moodlet. Don't ask me how or why, but game mechanics did not age Grey until the same day as Donte. And boop, there's the glitch again on Donte's hair. Back into cas he went for a properly coded hair. I think it's because his dad had been made with a store hair on my old pc. With Grey as an uncontrollable elder, and Doni only a few sim days away from elder the race is really on to get his athletics as high as possible in the hope of maxing. Not being able to use any workout tone besides the basic one does not help. Donte & Daphne both will have their beds on the 2nd floor as the third is not done yet, nor will it be before Daphne's birthday. Donte gets a base in 3 skills; writing, chess, and painting thanks to the tot books. Moving the radio to the third level was critical, elders don't always pay attention to the fact that their children are trying to sleep. This classmate of Donte's showed up. He was told to leave by Doni 4 different times, clearly by some of his actions he has the evil trait. Now that Daphne is a tot it's her turn to read the tot books, but not right away, it's time for bed. Sadly Doni only made it to level 7 athletics by the time his transition day rolled around. Donte has 8 days until he turns teen, and Daphne has 3 days until child. There is a decent stash of food stuffs in the basement. The only upside is that Doni is quitting right after receiving a promotion at work so as you'll note in the pictures I have repurchased a fireplace, but no one can get to it at this time. As to game play, I'm undecided if any elders will have any accidents after Donte turns into a teen. While not a handicap I took there is something to be said for just letting a sim fade of old age. (Yes, that really did just come from me, a simmer known for untimely endings of digital lives. ;) ) There will be one more founder generation post after this one, probably a short post due to the fact that I powered through the founder. (I almost always do.) Gen two is in the house, you'll meet gen two by the end of this post. See these two casually playing catch. Life won't be so idealistic for much longer. Money from book sales has helped fund the upper level expansion. About selling books, going for at least 5 in non - fiction or fiction early on with a child is a good way to earn quick cash for the bills, however for the money needed for adding a second level if you start with one like I did, start writing the more expensive books as soon as they become available. In hindsight (so perfect it is) I could have had the upper level much further along if I'd started writing bigger books sooner. After two short days of skilling; and yes once the entire back wall was up and covered I started her on painting, which I wish I'd done sooner - you'll see why later, which was the only skill she didn't have any points in yet; it was time for Grey's big transition from teen to young adult. Due to her bad school grades game mechanics assigned her the loner trait. Her LTW is renaissance sim. Sorry, dark steel grey sims don't show well in poorly lit homes. Dear Grey, Congrats you are now a YA. Time to earn your way in this digital world. Used random.org to roll 1 die to find out her career. It rolled a 1. "Roll of 1: Architect / Athletic / Business" not really what I was looking for but it will have to do. Grey has to work on Architect as it's the only professions based career on that list. Without ambitions installed this is the only profession that's getting lifted until journalism and/or military are lifted and I have more freedom to pick their jobs. Base game rules for lifting architect are:
Okay Grey time for your first job, welcome to the world of business, then you may (yes you Have to) go to the park to meet and greet as many townies as possible. In a way we are off to the races. Most of what she needs to get done is going to happen fairly quickly. Especially advancing up the work ladder, thanks to being a workaholic & ambitious. Looking around for a mate will come a bit later as I want her to master the celebrity challenge first for that friendship bump. She also needs that bump to help with the four good, or better friends, she's going to need to be eligible for getting a mate. Thanks to having already written 5 non-fiction books, writing a hit non-fiction was fast and easy one part done. Dear player, I see your sim has just started a new job and you probably want them to advance fast. Here let me fix that for you. ~ Game Mechanics Good bye Papa Steel. you made it to 99 (?100) sim days of age. ...... and what the heck, you're faded now why are you getting a job at the diner?????????? Dear Grey, I know you're sad & heart broken that your dad, Papa just passed I have more bad news for you. No more fresh food until you get married. Nor are you allowed to mourn Papa's fading. Ready set go ... Not bad Grey, not bad. Now it's time to switch jobs and start the climb over. Oh and don't forget no matter how much those men gush over you, you area Sagittarius which means you can only pair up with one of these signs Aquarius, Aries, Gemini, Leo, or Libra. Sorry no love at first sight for you or any of your descendants. Nice job, looks like politics really may have been your field but that's it you've completed 3/5th's of what you need to do now it's just art & mechanical skills to finish. For a loner being stuck home isn't to bad, Grey only needed off the lot once or twice a week. The final stretch with the art skill was the hardest. She could have had it finished sooner if: I had gotten her an easel sooner, which would have meant writing different books early on; secondly I realized that one of the rule changes was the lifting/removal of the old only one canvas a day rule. Something else I hadn't realized which might have sped things along, was that as an inappropriate sim she was allowed to sponge bath. She didn't need to stay stinky for so long. It seems like every time I play this challenge I learn new things about the sims themselves & the game mechanics or I discover something about the challenge I hadn't previously noticed. Dear player, I notice your sim is doing really well for herself. Let me fix that for you. ~ Game mechanics Hiccups aside Grey did finally clear the last two skill requirements with a nail biting 8 day's until elder. She also had to return to writing to boost her income to replace the stolen items. Now it's time to find a mate, so glad I didn't take the moral purity handicap, or it would have been game over. Grey was left with two choices as two sims had already turned elder and the teens I'd hoped for had incompatible signs. One was far more receptive to making out than the other, but in the end .... ... there can only be one. Welcome to the family Doni. Doni is half way through politics and is only 3 or 4 sim days younger than Grey. He's also naturally athletic, but no athletic skill time for him to race the clock for both the athletic & charisma skills. Since they got married with a bun in the oven, and architect is cleared let the expansion begin, up or down only though out is under politics. It also means cribs will be gotten since space is no longer on a tight premium. Food storage is now in the basement, because even though he doesn't have the neat trait Doni has already cleaned up saved food on me. Hello Donte, welcome to the apocalypse. Grey still has a few days so two it is. Yes I moved quick to insure back to back babies. This was an odd glitch, Donte aged up with a girls hair. I think I know why, and outside of restarting and carefully scanning each townie I planted I don't think it can be prevented. Hopefully the glitch vanishes from the save by generation 3. Might help if I relocate save cleaner too. Yes I took him into cas to fix it. To fix a glitch it's not considered cheating. :) From here out you'll be seeing him with an ea coded boys hair. Donte gets to read tot books. I still don't train tots until education is lifted when playing an apocalypse. For me it adds to the game. Daphne was welcomed in with Grey being at 0 days to elder for 2 days. There will be no additional simlets for generation 2. Since I saved and exited right after Daphne was born I have no clue who will be the heir. Not going for name themes or alphabet clusters those are just the two names I thought of when it was time to name them. :) Final note regarding game mechanics.
When you place a table light on the grill the game makes the grill a part of the light. So no a sim can not cook on a grill with a lamp on it but they can tune the lamps settins from the grill. Take two is going much better, so far. I borrowed a few tips from some fellow players. Tip 1 was have the elder have the slob trait, and have the child have a soup for the days meal and the elder can lick the bowl clean. Tip 2 was to have the elder, be an adult at first and as soon as the bookstore run is done tce age them to elder, which also allows to set as parent & child. Tip two had an additional advantage in that you won't need mastercontroller to set a family relationship between the elder and the child. First run I discovered that even though they were best friends, the elder & child would never share the bed, but the game mechanics will allow parents & children to share the bed. I also started with a completely empty lot this time, and adjusted income according to the rules. I never realized how much of a difference it made in what a sim can start with. Take one I had started them with the sparse bunker, after adjusting income they only had 1,507 for books and a computer. Take two, I was able to get 6 starting books (3 garden, 3 tot skill) and get them started in a semi posh starting bunker. I'm building above ground this time as a change of pace from the usual underground shelter I usually play. When I got Grey & Papa onto the lot Grey had lost 2 days of age in cas on me so I adjusted the child age to 12 days for the entire town. When Grey transitioned to teen the child age was readjusted back to the 10 days given by the challenge rules. Without further ado, here are Grey & Papa Steel 2.0; they have the same network and traits as before. Their starting shelter. I do not know if they can grill with the light on the grill, but I'm going to test it next time I'm in game. ;) Grey spent her first 10 days either at school or home working on books, unless it was a comm's day. Her days would usually start about 4 am, with a partial soup leaving the rest for Papa, and then she'd write until it was time for school. For breaks from writing she would either play chess with Papa, or workout to the stereo. By the 9th day both sink and toilet were busted, and she had earned enough money for 3 wall segments and a counter. Because Mondays are mob days, Grey spends little to no time writing. This way she doesn't loose to much in the way of family funds. Oddly the game has been paying them 1,200 every week. That doesn't get used and goes straight to the mob. Transition time. Grey had A's in school and was allowed to pick her trait, the random roll yielded inappropriate, sigh. Now the fun really begins, no more worry if Papa will die of old age before she transitions, since a teen can live solo, you just can't make a solo teen household in cas (without cheating). Dear Grey, wish I could let you read a skill book but I can't so good luck with the grill. Please don't catch fire. Since I'm base game only and had to pull the career mod for the challenge, I'm hoping the roll for her starting career will yield a path that won't show in the paper. Her first day as a teen went fairly well, big sigh of relief that the grill didn't catch fire. (Oh, and first blooper. When I was spending their limited funds I accidentally bought 3 windows instead of only the two allowed.) Oh dear ... not such a good week after all. The only upside is the neighbors followed the burglar up, which added two new sims to Grey's known sims list. Grey continued with her routine, make sandwiches, write, call people on comm's day, work out, fix the plumping, and learn skills. She may have an F in academics, but her skills are coming along very nicely. Grey has written 15 books: 5 fiction, 5 non fiction, and 5 scifi. She will be starting Drama or Mystery next. So far she's only had one hit. She got a baseball so now she drags Papa; who hates the outdoors, has mastered chess, and is 94 days in age; outside to play catch. I'm hoping he'll be outside when grim shows, but odds aren't in favor of such, but she's just a few days from her next transition so maybe she can drag him down to the park, with hopes of an off lot fade. The upper level is coming along nicely, and now that she's starting on books that earn more I might get her a ladder so she can practice painting. Meet Grey Steel, again. I aged her down in cas to child, new save - new sim. I was happy when she kept her ambitious, workaholic, and lucky traits. From here out her traits are random. Meet Papa Steel, Grey's assigned guardian. Hates the outdoors, unlucky, slob, natural cook, friendly. He loves hot dogs. After 1 trip to the store he is senile and uncontrollable. There network consists of: City Hall, the Big Park, the library, 90 James Dean Drive, 78 & 79 Dragnet Drive Additionally I updated the rest of the town. Removed a couple of empty houses, because I had accidentally placed a few to many. Rezoned all remaining lots to community no visitors allowed, and brutally ran all homeless out this time. Although I did forget to go around and fix my planted townies, oh well. First attempt ended with the social worker, header image, showing up two days before Grey became a teen because Papa Steel f'd up their food supply. So take two is going to have some readjustments. Here's a copy of my entry form.
