Many of the tips and tricks I know I have learned from other builders and from reading guides for building by them or by ea. I will get links on the side eventually. Why room not rooms are important in sims 4. Say you've used moo/enlarge/shifted up or down an object while building your dream lot. You've saved your lots to your library and are starting a new game and decide to use your perfect lot, but when you place it nothing is where you had it in the yard. What happens is that the game coding/mechanics only recognize certain cheats if they are contained within a room. Start by selecting one of the flat base shapes found by clicking on the image of a porch when in build mode. Shape and size doesn't matter overly much as you can edit it to fit what you want. This is how the not room will look once placed. And once not highlighted the is how it looks. But now it sticks out like a sore thumb. Easily solved by placing some flooring tile. Now the room not room blends in with it's surrounds. Ps, yes this does add to the lot value, which is why some builds that look super simple are so expensive. Now to place the desired objects in the space. I used the 9 key along with bb.moveobjects on to place the lantern where I wanted it. As you can see everything is well contained in the defined space. I saved it both as a room and as a lot to my library for demo purposes. But for picture purposes I'm only using the saved room as it's easier to highlight. As you can see I'm now on a new lot and am placing the defined room not room. All done and everything is how I left it. #Sims4 #BuildingTips Update:
I forgot about the foundation problem. So to be clear that the room not room space definitions used for defining outdoor spaces to retain moo and other cheats used while building are subject to the foundation rule. As you can see in the picture below the space is automatically raised to whatever level the foundation has been set too. Some possible work arounds, which I haven't tested, are either raising items up from basement rooms, or creating sunken rooms in between other rooms.
